Emilia Bertolé
Emilia Bertolé (1896–1949) was an Argentine poet and painter. Life Bertolé was born in Rosario on 21 June 1896. She studied with the Italian teacher Mateo Casella at the Institute of Fine Arts "Doménico Morelli". She continued her painting and in 1912 she joined an exhibition with Erminio Blotta, Alfredo Guido, Manuel Musto, César Caggiano, Gustavo Cochet. file:Emilia-bertole-self-portrait.jpg, left, Self portrait In 1927 she was the first woman to have her painting exhibited at the May Salon of the Santa Fe Museum "Rosa Galisteo Rodriguez". Her painting "Clarity" was of a woman looking thoughtful and it was bought by the museum. In 1929 Bertolé created three portraits of ex-President Hipólito Yrigoyen. The Uruguayan writer, Horacio Quiroga, led the Anaconda group and Bertolé became a member together with Ana Weiss de Rossi, Amparo de Hieken, Ricardo Hicken, Berta Singerman and Alfonsina Storni. Alfonsina Storni (29 May 1892 – 25 October 1938) was a Swiss Argentines, Swiss-Argentine poet and playwright of the Modernismo, modernist period. Early life Storni was born on May 29, 1892, in Sala Capriasca, Switzerland. Her parents were Alfonso Storni and Paola Martignoni, who were of Italian-Swiss descent. Before her birth, her father had started a brewery in the city of San Juan, Argentina, San Juan, Argentina, producing beer and soda. In 1891, following the advice of a doctor, he returned with his wife to Switzerland, where Alfonsina was born the following year; she lived there until she was four years old. Berta Singerman
Berta Singerman Begun (; 9 September 1901 – 10 December 1998), better known as Berta Singerman, was an Argentine singer and actress. Biography Singerman was born in Minsk, then part of the Russian Empire into a Jewish family. She emigrated to Argentina with her parents when she was a little girl. From a young age, she performed dramatic works with her siblings and neighbours that she was responsible for directing. When she was eight she joined a company that made melodramas in Yiddish, and when she was ten years old she joined a cast that performed works of August Strindberg.
