Emergency Records
Emergency Records was an American independent record label from 1979 to 1989. Founded in the United States in early 1979, Emergency Records specialized in products of the Italian disco sound of the 1970s and 1980s. During that time, the majority of the European production of disco music came from Germany, France, and Italy. Releases introduced electric instruments such as computers and synthesizers. During 1981 and 1982 the label released productions that mixed late disco emotions with heavy funky rhythms that made the Emergency Sound. As with many independent labels, in 1983 the label was looking for some hits of the dance music genre, and released early electro tracks such as "In the Bottle", "On the Upside" and " Let the Music Play". The international success of "Let The Music Play" allowed Emergency to continue until 1988. Lisa Fischer
Lisa Melonie Fischer (born December 1, 1958) is an American singer and songwriter. She found success with her 1991 debut album '' So Intense'', which produced the Grammy Award–winning hit single " How Can I Ease the Pain". She has been a back-up singer for a number of artists, including Sting, Luther Vandross, and Tina Turner, and she toured with The Rolling Stones from 1989 to 2015. Early life Lisa Melonie Fischer was born in the Fort Greene neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. Fischer's mother gave birth to her at age 16 and had a total of three children by the time she was 19. Fischer has fond memories of singing with her mother (a homemaker), her father (a warehouse worker and security officer), and her two younger brothers. Aleksandar Marton (born 4 October 1959), known by his stage name Sandy Marton, is a Croatian singer, songwriter and musician. He is famous for songs such as " People from Ibiza", "Exotic and Erotic", and " Camel by Camel". Biography Early life Sandy Marton was born Aleksandar Marton in Zagreb, Yugoslavia on 4 October 1959. His father worked for the Yugoslavian Embassy in Italy, which led Marton to spend increased amounts of time there. He moved to the Italian city of Milan in the 1970s. 1980s: debut and success In 1982, Marton was noticed by talent scout Claudio Cecchetto performing at the ''Primadonna'' nightclub in Milan. Francesco Puccioni (26 April 1961 – 30 January 2009), better known under his stage name Mike Francis, was an Italian singer and composer, born in Florence, Italy. Internationally, he was best known for his 1984 hit, "Survivor", and his collaborations with American singer Amii Stewart. Career Puccioni formed his first band at age 14 with schoolmates from l'Istituto di Studi Americano in Rome. Under the stage name Mike Francis, he had his first hit with "Survivor" in 1984 and went on to record ten studio albums. Among his best known works is the song "Friends", a duet with Amii Stewart released in 1984 which became a big hit in the UK and the Philippines. Nolan Thomas (born Marko Kalfa; 24 August 1966 in Jersey City, NJ) is a fashion photographer and former Latin freestyle artist, mostly known for his 1984 single "Yo' Little Brother" which peaked at #57 on the '' ''Billboard'' Hot 100''. Kalfa was discovered by dance-music producers Mark Liggett and Chris Barbosa of Shannon (" Let the Music Play") fame when he was still in high school. While he did appear in the music video of "Yo' Little Brother" and sang all of the other tracks on the ''Yo' Little Brother'' album, he did not actually perform the vocals on this particular track: Elan Lanier sang them instead. North End (band)
North End was an American boogie and club music-influenced garage house music group, consisted of Arthur Baker, Russell Presto and Tony Carbone. North End debuted in 1979 with an uptempo disco track titled "Kind of Life (Kind of Love)" which was released by West End Records. Two years later, "Happy Days" was released on Emergency Records and peaked at number 9 on the ''Billboard'' Club Play Singles chart.
