The Embassy of Ukraine in Prague ( cs, Ukrajinské velvyslanectví v Praze) is the diplomatic mission of Ukraine in the Czech Republic. History On 8 December 1991, Czechoslovakia recognized Ukraine after the previous declaration of independence by the Supreme Soviet of Ukraine (24 August 1991), which was later approved by the referendum on 1 December 1991. The Soviet Union would eventually be dissolved by the resigning Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev (25 December 1991) and would formally split itself into Belarus, the Russian Federation and Ukraine by signing declarations in Białowieża Forest by its respective presidents (Alexander Lukashenko, Lukashenko, Boris Yeltsin, Yeltsin, Leonid Kravchuk, Kravchuk) on 26 December 1991. Mykhailo Levytskyi (or ''Mykhajlo Levitsky'' ( uk, Михайло Левицький, pl, Michał Lewicki)); 17 February, 1774 – 14 January, 1858) was the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church from 1816 until his death in 1858 and a Cardinal of the Catholic Church. He was from a Ukrainian Greek Catholic sacerdotal family and nobility with the herbu, de Rogale. Life Mykhailo Levytskyi was born on 17 February 1774on 16 August 1774 according to other sources at Lanchyn, in Pokuttya region, the son of Rev. Stefan Lewicki (sic), the Greek Catholic priest in Lanchyn and Maria (last name unknown). He was one of at least eight children born to Rev. Stefan and Maria.
