Elverum (town)
Elverum () is a List of towns and cities in Norway, town in Elverum Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The town is the administrative centre of the municipality. It is located in the western part of the municipality along the river Glomma, about east of the town of Hamar. The town is the regional centre for commerce and industry for the middle Østerdalen valley and the northern part of Solør. Historically, the designation of town/city was granted by the king, but since 1996 that authority was given to the local Municipal council (Norway), municipal councils for each municipality in Norway. Norwegian fortresses or fortifications have been constructed from some of the earliest recorded periods, down through the 20th century. Elverum Station
Elverum Station is a railway station located at Vestad, on the west side of Glomma in the town of Elverum which is located in Elverum Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The station is on the Røros Line, in addition to being the terminus of the Solør Line. History It was opened in 1862 as part of the Hamar–Grundset Line. Christiansfjell Fortress
Christiansfjeld Fortress is a historic fort located in the town of Elverum which is located in Elverum Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. History The fortress was built on a hill on the east side of the river Glomma as one of several military facilities in the vicinity. The fortress was initially established by Danish officer Gustav Wilhelm Wedel Jarlsberg (1641-1717), Count of Wedel-Jarlsberg in 1683. A tower with a cellar powder magazine was among the first buildings at this Norwegian fortress. Originally known as ''Hammersberg Skanse'', during King Christian V's 1685 visit to Norway he toured the fortification. The University of Inland Norway (also known as INN University, ) is a state university in Innlandet county, Norway. It was established in 2017 as the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, from the merger of the Hedmark University College and Lillehammer University College.
