Elliot Stuart
Elliot Clarke Stuart (born 1946) is a former English international badminton player. Badminton career Stuart was a winner of the All England Open Badminton Championships. He won the 1975 All England Badminton Championships mixed doubles with Nora Perry (badminton), Nora Gardner. Stuart competed in the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch winning the gold medal, in the men's doubles with Derek Talbot and a bronze medal, in the mixed doubles with Susan Whetnall. He also won a bronze medal in the Badminton at the 1972 Summer Olympics, men's doubles at the 1972 Summer Olympics when the sport was a demonstration sport. Personal life Stuart studied metallurgy at Newcastle University before working for Barclays, Barclays Bank from 1968 until the mid 1990s. Stuart married the two-time All England Open single champions, Eva Twedberg of Sweden, on 18 August 1973 which took place in Newcastle upon Tyne. The two living in North London. Badminton At The 1972 Summer Olympics
The badminton tournament was one of two demonstration sports at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. It was the first time that the sport was part of the Olympic program, and it would become an official Olympic sport 20 years later at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Willi Braun (born 2 August 1944) is a retired male badminton player from Germany. Richard Purser
Richard Howard Purser (born 28 February 1942) is a New Zealand badminton player who has won 33 New Zealand national badminton titles, including the men's singles on nine occasions. He competed at four consecutive Commonwealth Games, from 1966 to 1978, and won the bronze medal in the men's doubles with his brother, Bryan Purser, at the 1978 Commonwealth Games. Early life and family Purser was born in New Plymouth on 28 February 1942, the son of Betty Purser (née Cochran) and Howard Musgrave Purser. He was educated at New Plymouth Boys' High School, where he excelled at tennis and badminton. Purser's brother, Bryan, and nephew, Craig Cooper, have also represented New Zealand in badminton. Michael Graham Tredgett (born 5 April 1949) is an English badminton player who specialized in doubles and played at the world level for more than a decade, winning numerous international men's doubles and mixed doubles titles. Partnered with Nora Perry (badminton), Nora Perry, they became the first ever world number one mixed doubles pairing in the inaugural IBF world ranking release in 1978. Ray Stevens (born 23 June 1951) is a former English badminton player and multiple National champion. Biography A winner of numerous English national championships and international titles in both singles and doubles, his strengths were his power, tenacity, and concentration. At the 1974 British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand, Stevens became stricken with a mild case of chicken pox, but was released from hospital just in time to compete in the men's doubles. He went on to win a silver medal. In 1977, Stevens won a bronze medal in the World Championships in men's doubles.
