Ellery (duo)
Ellery is a musical group formed in Cincinnati (now based in Louisville), founded by married couple Tasha and Justin Golden. They began work as Ellery in 2005. Their style has been called "ethereal lush-pop", often compared to that of Feist (singer), Feist, Sarah McLachlan, Regina Spektor, Hem (band), Hem, and Patty Griffin. History The couple began touring full-time in 2003, and recorded their first EP - ''Make Your Troubles Mine -'' in 2005, with the help of producer and guitarist Ric Hordinski (formerly of Over the Rhine (band), Over the Rhine). The debut was received with positive reviews in local newspapers, and their local public radio station, WNKU, put them in regular rotation. After a feature in ''Performing Songwriter Magazine'', Virt Records signed the band and sent them back into the studio to turn their EP into a full-length album. Ellery is a town in Chautauqua County, New York, United States, located northwest of Jamestown and with an extended lakefront on the east side of Chautauqua Lake. In the 2020 census, Ellery had a population of 4,105. History The area known as Ellery was originally home to the Erie People. The first settlement of European colonists was made ''circa'' 1806. The town of Ellery was founded in 1821 from a part of the town of Chautauqua. William Ellery, signer of the Declaration of Independence, is the town's namesake. Wilson Hills () is a group of scattered hills, nunataks and ridges that extend northwest–southeast about between Matusevich Glacier and Pryor Glacier in Antarctica. Discovery and naming The Wilson Hills were discovered by Lieutenant Harry Pennell, Royal Navy, on the Terra Nova Expedition in February 1911 during Robert Falcon Scott's last expedition.
