Elimination Doctrine
Elimination is one of the eight Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) mission areas as outlined by the United States Department of Defense in the 2006 National Military Strategy to Combat WMD and Joint Publication 3-40. "Elimination" is a mission under the Counterproliferation pillar (goal). A weapon of mass destruction (WMD) is a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or any other weapon that can kill and bring significant harm to numerous individuals or cause great damage to artificial structures (e.g., buildings), natural structures (e.g., mountains), or the biosphere. The scope and usage of the term has evolved and been disputed, often signifying more politically than technically. Counterproliferation
Counterproliferation refers to diplomatic, intelligence, and military efforts to combat the proliferation of weapons, including both weapons of mass destruction (WMD), long-range missiles, and certain conventional weapons. Nonproliferation and arms control are related terms. Civilian Population
