Elias Hämäläinen
Elias Hämäläinen (born 15 April 1985 in Finland) is a Finnish musician who won the first series of the Finnish X Factor on 16 May 2010. He received a 3-album recording contract with Sony Music. Before the competition, Elias made his living as a street musician in Helsinki, but was also lead-vocalist and guitarist in Gusto, a band playing rock with an acoustic guitar sound. Elias Hämäläinen's parents were missionaries performing gospel music, and he toured many countries with them and his three older siblings, staying also for a while in the United States. Due to his international background, English is Hämäläinen's strongest language, and he mostly writes songs in English. The Finnish musician Jere Ijäs assisted him with the lyrics on his debut album, "Rakkaudesta ja pelosta" (About love and fear). X Factor (Finland)
''X Factor'' is the Finnish version of ''X Factor'', a show originating from the United Kingdom. It is a television music talent show contested by aspiring pop singers drawn from public auditions. The first season concluded in May 2010. On 13 June 2017, it was revealed that the show would be revived for a second season which began airing in 2018. Street performance or busking is the act of performing in public places for gratuities. In many countries, the rewards are generally in the form of money but other gratuities such as food, drink or gifts may be given. Street performance is practiced all over the world and dates back to antiquity. People engaging in this practice are called street performers or buskers, although ''busker'' is generally not used in American English. Technicolour (rock Band)
Technicolour was a Finnish rock band from Helsinki, founded by Jimi Pääkallo and active from 2001 to 2008. All the lyrics to their songs were sung in English. Jimi and Dingo had been playing in the band Cliché when they decided to start a separate project. Gary, Aki, and Toni joined soon after. The band's first album, ''Way Out'', was released in September 2003. The album achieved moderate success. Their second album, ''Only Shadows Dance'' (2005), outperformed the first one, peaking at 11th place on the album chart that year. The album's singles "All My Life" and "Teach Me Love (I'm in Denial)" also ranked among the top ten on radio playlists. With their third album ''People'', released in October 2006, Technicolour's popularity waned again. The Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band based in Buffalo, New York, composed of lead vocalist and guitarist John Rzeznik, bassist and vocalist Robby Takac, as well as several rotating members since its formation in 1986.
