Eleousa () is a village in the municipal unit of Pasaronas, Ioannina regional unit, Greece. Since the 2010 local government reform, it is the seat of the municipality Zitsa. In 2021, its population was 3,536. It is situated in the valley northwest of Lake Ioannina, 7 km northwest of the city centre of Ioannina. Ioannina () is one of the regional units of Greece, located in the northwestern part of the country. It is part of the region of Epirus (region), Epirus. Its capital is the city of Ioannina. Zitsa
Zitsa () is a village and a municipality in the Ioannina regional unit, Epirus, Greece. The seat of the municipality is the village Eleousa. The municipality has an area of 565.566 km2, the municipal unit 65.868 km2, the community 29.169 km2. History The first reference to Zitsa is in the Chronicle of Ioannina in 1382. It developed into a prosperous village in the Ottoman era and became a centre of wine production, something for which it is still renowned. During this period, it appeared in the travelogues of various Western Europeans, including William Martin Leake (1809), Lord Byron (1809) and Henry Holland (1813). Byron, who spent two nights in Zitsa's monastery, was so enamoured with the village that he later included a stanza about it in his Childe Harold's Pilgrimage. Zitsa became part of Greece in 1913. Pasaronas () is a former municipality in the Ioannina regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Zitsa, of which it is a municipal unit. The Kallikratis Programme () is the common name of Greek law 3852/2010 of 2010, a major administrative reform in Greece. It brought about the second major reform of the country's administrative divisions following the 1997 Kapodistrias reform. Lake Ioannina
Lake Pamvotida or Pamvotis (), commonly also Lake of Ioannina (, ''Limni ton Ioanninon'') is the largest lake of Epirus, located in the central part of the Ioannina regional unit in northern Greece. The regional capital Ioannina to the west and the town of Perama to the north are urban settlements fringing the lake while the remaining of its periphery is composed of farmland. The lake features small fishing ports and a boating port. There is a regular boat service to the Ioannina Island. The Greek National Road 6 surrounds the northern half of the lake.
