''The Electronic Intifada'' (''EI'') is an online Chicago-based publication covering the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. It describes itself as not-for-profit, independent, and providing a Palestinian perspective. History ''EI'' was founded in February 2001 by Ali Abunimah, an American citizen of Palestinian descent; Arjan El Fassed, human rights activist based in the Netherlands; Laurie King, an anthropologist and former coordinator of the International Campaign for Justice for the Victims of Sabra and Shatila and the managing editor of the '' Journal of Palestine Studies'' in Washington; and Nigel Parry, currently an eclectic Internet consultant, writer and musician based in Pittsburgh. An online newspaper (or electronic news or electronic news publication) is the electronic publishing, online version of a newspaper, either as a stand-alone publication or as the online version of a printed periodical literature, periodical. Going online created more opportunities for newspapers, such as competing with broadcast journalism in presenting breaking news in a more timely manner. The credibility and strong brand recognition of well established newspapers, and the close relationships they have with advertisers, are also seen by many in the newspaper industry as strengthening their chances of survival. The movement away from the printing process can also help decrease costs. Ronnie Naftaniel
Ronald Maurice (Ronny) Naftaniel (born October 10, 1948 in Amsterdam) is the former director of the (Centrum Informatie en Documentatie Israël) (CIDI), in The Hague, The Netherlands, having served in this role from 1980 to 2013. Life Ronny Naftaniel is the son of a German Jew who had survived the Holocaust in the Netherlands after already having fled Nazi Germany in the aftermath of Kristallnacht in 1938. Naftaniel's father was immediately interned in Westerbork - in 1938 a refugee camp where Jews from Germany who had fled Nazi Germany were brought to - after crossing the border with the Netherlands. During the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, he succeeded in preventing his own deportation to the death camps in occupied Poland. He was liberated by Canadian forces in 1945 while still being held in Westerbork, which had been transformed into a transit camp for more than 100,000 Dutch Jews to Auschwitz, Sobibor, Bergen-Belsen and Theresienstadt by the Nazis. Hajo Meyer
Hajo Meyer (; ; born Hans-Joachim Gustav Meyer, ; 12 August 1924 – 23 August 2014) was a German-born Dutch physicist, Holocaust survivor and political activist. While primarily known for his public commentaries in terms of the European Jewish community, he is also noted for his work directing the facility Philips Natuurkundig Laboratorium for many years. In this capacity Meyer played a role in developing the ASML wafer stepper, a photolithography machine used in the production of integrated circuits (ICs) on silicon wafers. Early life Meyer was born on 12 August 1924 in Bielefeld, Germany, to Therese ( Melchior) and Gustav Meyer, a notary who had fought in the First World War. Meyer was Jewish. Aged 14, he was sent by his parents from Nazi Germany to the Netherlands on 4 January 1939 as part of a Kindertransport convoy, and settled in Holland on his own. The Interkerkelijke Omroep Nederland (IKON) was a Dutch public broadcaster which made radio and television broadcasts on behalf of seven church communities. IKON also offered other services such as teletext, Teletekst, the IKON newspaper, the IKON pastorate and Internet. In IKON's airtime, the Wilde Ganzen collected money for projects in the Third World. Uriël "Uri" Rosenthal (; born 19 July 1945) is a retired Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and political scientist. Rosenthal a political scientist by occupation, was elected as a Member of the Senate on 8 June 1999 after the Senate election of 1999.
