Moore was an Electoral districts of Western Australia, electoral district of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. Moore has had three incarnations as an electorate. In its first incarnation, Moore was one of the original 30 seats contested at the 1890 Western Australian colonial election, 1890 colonial election. Its latest incarnation it has existed continuously since 1950. In that time, the seat has been variously held by the two conservative forces in Western Australian politics: the Liberal Party of Australia (Western Australian Division), Liberal Party and the National Party of Australia (WA), National Party. The Western Australian Labor Party, officially known as WA Labor, is the Western Australian branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). It is the current governing party of Western Australia since winning the 2017 state election under Mark McGowan. Shortly afterwards the federal Labor Party was formalised in time for Australian federation in 1901. Carnamah, Western Australia
Carnamah is a town in the Mid West region of Western Australia, about north of Perth along the Midlands Road. At the 2021 census, the population of the town was 407. The town was gazetted in 1913, and is named after "Carnamah", a pastoral property established by Duncan Macpherson in this location in the late 1860s. A telegraph station was established here in 1873, and is referred to in 1876 by the explorer Ernest Giles. Giles spells it "Cornamah" in his book, but "Carnamah" on his map. Macpherson's property "Carnamah" derives its name from Carnamah Spring. The name is probably Aboriginal of unknown meaning, or possibly is a Gaelic word meaning "cairn of the cattle" or "cattle rocks". The Midland Railway line was constructed through the area in 1894, and a siding was built close to the Macpherson's homestead. This in turn led to further settlement of the area. Perenjori, Western Australia
Perenjori is a townsite in the northern agricultural region, north of Perth and south-east of Morawa. It is located on the Wongan Hills to Mullewa railway line which was opened in 1915. Perenjori was approved as the name of a siding in April 1913, and later that year the government decided to establish a townsite there. Perenjori townsite was gazetted in 1916. In 1932, the Wheat Pool of Western Australia announced that the town would have two grain elevators, each fitted with an engine, installed at the railway siding. Overview Perenjori is the Aboriginal name of a nearby water source, Perenjori Rockhole, being first recorded in 1911 when land was set aside for a water reserve at the rockhole. The rockhole was sometimes spelt Perengory or Perangery, and it is believed the name may be derived from the Peranj-jiddee bush which surrounded the rockhole. The bush is similar to the Black Wattle. Three Springs is a town located north of Perth, Western Australia on the Midlands Road, which until the opening of the Brand Highway in 1975 was the main road route from Perth to the state's north. The town is the seat of the Shire of Three Springs. Its economy is based on agriculture (mainly broad acre grain cropping and sheep farming) and mining. Morawa, Western Australia
Morawa is a town in the Mid West region of Western Australia. It is located within the Shire of Morawa, approximately 370 kilometres (230 mi) north of the state capital Perth, on the railway line between Wongan Hills and Mullewa. History The name ''Morawa'' is an Indigenous Australian name; it probably derives from the ''Morowar'', the local dialect's word for the dalgite. The name was first used on maps of the area in 1910, in reference to a rock hole. When the railway was being planned in 1913, it was decided to locate a siding at the location, and the name ''Morawa'' was chosen for it. The Lands Department then decided to establish a townsite there, and Morawa was gazetted in September 1913. Mingenew is a town in Western Australia, located north of the state capital, Perth. It is the seat of government for the Shire of Mingenew. History Mingenew was named after Mingenew Spring, an Aboriginal word recorded by European settlers in 1856, possibly deriving from either the words ''Minga nu'' "the place of many ants and flies" or ''Mininoo'' "the place of many waters". Mingenew and the surrounding Irwin District were first explored by the brothers Augustus Charles and Francis Thomas Gregory in August 1847, looking for suitable grazing land. The Shire of Irwin is a local government area in the Mid West region of Western Australia, about south of Geraldton and about north of the state capital, Perth. The Shire covers an area of , and its seat of government is the town of Dongara. History The Irwin Road District was created on 24 January 1871 as one of the first regional local government areas in Western Australia. Before this, it was the "Victoria District". In 16 June 1916, Irwin received a large land area from the Upper Irwin Road Board shortly before that entity's dissolution. Sections of the district separated as part of the formation of the Carnamah Road District on 24 August 1923 and the Three Springs Road District on 2 November 1928. Dongara is a town north-northwest of Perth, Western Australia on the Brand Highway. The town is located at the mouth of the Irwin River. Dongara is the seat of the Shire of Irwin. At the the shire had a population of 3,569, with 2,782 residing in the contiguous towns of Dongara and Port Denison. History The place name 'Dongara' is an anglicised rendition of ''Thung-arra'', the local Wattandee people's name for the estuary adjacent to the town, meaning 'sea lion place'. European settlement around the estuary began in 1853 when a harbourmaster, Edward Downes, was stationed there to look out for passing ships. He was employed by Lockier Burges, Edward Hamersley, Samuel Pole Phillips and Bartholomew Urban Vigors' Cattle Company, which was granted 60,000 acres of pastoral leases about 15 kilometres inland. Mullewa is a town in the Mid West region of Western Australia, north of Perth and east-northeast of Geraldton. Mullewa is well known for its abundance of wildflowers in the spring and is one of the few places in Western Australia the wreath flower grows in. The surrounding areas produce wheat and other cereal crops. The town is a receival site for Cooperative Bulk Handling. History European settlers moved to the area in 1869 to take up pastoral leases for farming. Nabawa is a small town in the Mid West region of Western Australia, and is located in the Shire of Chapman Valley northeast of the city of Geraldton. History Nabawa derives its name from Nabawar Pool, a pool in the Chapman River first recorded by a surveyor in 1857. This Aboriginal word is said to mean "camp far away". The current spelling of Nabawa has been in use since 1872. A Roman Catholic Assisted School was established in 1889. When the Upper Chapman Valley railway line was opened in 1910, a siding was opened near the pool and named Nabawa. Northampton is a town north of Geraldton, in the Mid West region of Western Australia. At the 2011 census, the town had a population of 868. The town contains a National Trust building. The town lies on the North West Coastal Highway. Originally called The Mines, Northampton was gazetted in 1864 and named after the colony's Governor, John Hampton. The town was sited in the Nokanena Brook valley, between the hamlets around the two major copper mines in the area, the Wanerenooka and the Gwalla.
