Eladio Pérez
Eladio Antonio Pérez Núñez (18 February 1956 – 5 November 2008) was a deputy and member of the Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PDR) who ran and was defeated in a May 2006 election to the Congress in the Dominican Republic for the office representing the district of Villa Altagracia Villa Altagracia is a List of municipalities of the Dominican Republic, municipality (''municipio'') of the San Cristóbal Province, San Cristóbal province in the Dominican Republic. Within the municipality there are three municipal districts ('' .... He was twice before elected to the Congress, serving in 1982–1986, and from 1986 to 1990. Pérez was killed in a shooting in a small jewelry store on 5 November 2008 in San Carlos. He was shot by the owner of the store who claimed Pérez and three others were engaging in robbery attempt. Dominican Revolutionary Party
The Dominican Revolutionary Party (, PRD) is a political party in the Dominican Republic. Traditionally a left-of-centre party and social democratic in nature, the party has shifted since the 2000s toward the political centre. The party's distinctive color is white. Traditionally, the party has two presidents: the "Titular President" and the "Acting President" (and actually, a sort of Vice-President); until 2010 the presidents and the Secretary-General were proscribed to run for any elected office. The party was founded in 1939 by several Dominican expatriated exiles living in Havana, Cuba, led by Juan Bosch. It was then established in the Dominican Republic on 5 July 1961. The Congress of the Dominican Republic () is the bicameral legislature of the government of the Dominican Republic, consisting of two houses, the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. Both senators and deputies are chosen through direct election. There are no term limits for either chamber. As provided by the Dominican Constitution, each of the 178 members of the Chamber of Deputies represents a district and serves a four-year term. Chamber seats are apportioned among the states by population. The 32 Senators serve staggered four-year terms. Each province has one senator, regardless of population.
