Jalisco
Jalisco (, , ; Nahuatl: Xalixco), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Jalisco ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Jalisco ; Nahuatl: Tlahtohcayotl Xalixco), is one of the 31 states which, along with Mexico City, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. Municipalities ('' municipios'' in Spanish) are the second-level administrative divisions of Mexico, where the first-level administrative division is the ''state'' (Spanish: estado). Tizapan El Alto
Tizapán El Alto is a town and municipality, in Jalisco in central-western Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 105.53 square miles (273.32 km²). As of 2020, the municipality had a total population of 22,758. Toponymy Tizapán means "place of chalk" (''"lugar de tiza"''), due to the banks of that non-metallic mineral that exist around; or, "water over the tizate" (the ''tizate'' is a shrub up to 20 feet tall, with a very white trunk and stems; ovate, lanceolate, rough leaves with jagged edges, and yellow flowers in heads.
