Eindhovense Mixed Hockey Club
The Eindhovense Mixed Hockey Club (acronym: EMHC) was a Dutch field hockey club, which was located in Eindhoven, North Brabant. The club was founded on 14 October 1921, and had about 1,000 members. This made it the second biggest club of the city, after neighbouring Oranje Zwart. In 2016, the club merged with Oranje Zwart. Field Hockey
Field hockey (or simply referred to as hockey in some countries where ice hockey is not popular) is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with 11 players in total, made up of 10 field players and a goalkeeper. Teams must move a hockey ball around a field by hitting it with a field hockey stick, hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal (sports), goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. Matches are played on grass, watered turf, artificial turf, although grass has become increasingly rare as a playing surface. Indoor hockey is usually played on a synthetic hard court or hardwood sports flooring, and beach version is played on sand. The stick has evolved significantly over the game's history in its composition and shape. Mixed Hockeyclub Oranje Zwart was a Dutch professional field hockey club located in Eindhoven, North Brabant, which was founded on 1 September 1933. With around 1,700 members – as of 3 May 2006 – it is one of the biggest clubs in the Netherlands. The 2,000 capacity Sportpark Aalsterweg is their home venue. Hockeyclub Oranje-Rood (), also known as HC Oranje-Rood or simply Oranje-Rood, is a Dutch professional field hockey club based in Eindhoven, North Brabant. Women's Hoofdklasse Hockey
The Women's Hoofdklasse Hockey is the women's top division of Field hockey in the Netherlands. The league ranks first in the European league ranking table. The league was established in 1981 and before the league existed the champions of the several districts played in a championship pool to determine the national champion. Den Bosch are the current champions, having won the 2024–25 season by defeating SCHC in the championship final. Den Bosch has the most titles with 23 followed by Amsterdam with 21. Format The season starts in August or September of each year and is interrupted by the indoor hockey season from November to February. From March the outdoor season will be continued. The league is played by twelve teams who play each other twice and who compete for four spots in the championship play-offs. Det De Beus
Anna Maria Bernadette "Det" de Beus (18 February 1958 – 21 July 2013) in the Netherlands. Born in Utrecht, she was the first goalkeeper in women's field hockey to wear a mask. A player from Eindhovense Mixed Hockey Club in Eindhoven, De Beus played in goal for the Netherlands between 1978 and 1988. She played 105 caps for her country and was part of the gold medal-winning Olympic team in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. She retired from the sport at the end of Olympic Games in Seoul in September 1988 after winning the bronze medal by beating Great Britain 3–1. She won an Olympic gold medal and a European title in 1984, and world titles in 1978 and 1983, but never became a national champion. During her career she played 90 international matches for the Netherlands, in which she scored 106 goals. The defender made her debut for the Dutch on 16 September 1978 in a match against India, and quickly became known for her powerful shots.
