Ehud Barak
Ehud Barak ( ; born Ehud Brog; 12 February 1942) is an Israeli former general and politician who served as the Prime Minister of Israel, prime minister from 1999 to 2001. He was leader of the Israeli Labor Party, Labor Party between 1997 and 2001 and between 2007 and 2011. Born on a kibbutz, Barak is the eldest of four sons; his grandparents were murdered in the Holocaust. He graduated in physics and mathematics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and later obtained a master's in engineering-economic systems from Stanford University. Barak's military career in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began in 1959, spanning 35 years and culminating in his appointment as Chief of the General Staff (Israel), Chief of the General Staff in 1991, serving until 1995. Eli Dayan
Eli Dayan (; born 25 October 1949) is an Israeli former politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the Alignment and Labor Party between 1988 and 1996, and as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1995 until 1996. Biography Born in El Kelaa des Sraghna, Morocco in 1949, Dayan emigrated to Israel in 1963. He studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, gaining an LLB. He became mayor of Ashkelon in 1978, a role he held until 1991. He joined the new Tami party in 1981, and was fourth on the party's list for the 1981 Knesset elections, but the party won only three seats. He was third on the list for the 1984 elections, but again failed to win a seat. Nava Barak-Singer
Nava Barak-Singer (; ''née'' Cohen; April 8, 1947) is an Israeli educator and social activist. She was the wife of Ehud Barak between 1969 and 2003 and thus the spouse of the prime minister of Israel between 1999 and 2001. Biography Nava Cohen was born in Tiberias. Her father was the manager of a branch of Bank Leumi and her mother worked for the Jewish Agency. Independence (, ''Ha'Atzma'ut'') was a political party in Israel, that was launched by Defense Minister Ehud Barak on 17 January 2011, after he and four other Labor Party MKs seceded from the caucus. Israel Democratic Party
The Israel Democratic Party (, ) was a political party in Israel established in 2019 by former prime minister Ehud Barak. The party merged with Meretz for the September 2019 election. It did not contest the 2020 snap election. Members Yair Golan, Yifat Bitton, and Kobi Richter were alongside Barak when he announced on 26 June 2019 that he was forming a new party. Dan Shomron
Lieutenant General Daniel Shomron (; August 5, 1937 – February 26, 2008) was the 13th Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), from 1987 to 1991. Biography Shomron was the eldest of three children of Tova and Eliyahu Dozorets-Shimron from Kibbutz Ashdot Ya'akov. He enlisted in the IDF in 1955, and volunteered for the Paratrooper brigade. He was assigned to Battalion 890. During his enlistment, his surname was mistakenly noted as Shomron. He underwent the paratrooper combat training, and then went to the infantry squad commander course, during which he participated in several operations, including the raid on the Jordanian police building in A-Rahwe, Operation Gulliver and Operation Lulav. Amnon Lipkin-Shahak
Amnon Lipkin-Shahak (; March 18, 1944 – December 19, 2012) was an Israeli military officer and politician. He served as Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, as a Member of the Knesset, and as Minister of Transportation and Minister of Tourism. Yitzhak Rabin
Yitzhak Rabin (; , ; 1 March 1922 – 4 November 1995) was an Israeli politician, statesman and general. He was the prime minister of Israel, serving two terms in office, 1974–1977, and from 1992 until Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, his assassination in 1995.
