Eheke Circuit
Eheke is a settlement in northern Namibia situated at the edge of the Oshana Region near Ondangwa Airport. Eheke has 1,150 inhabitants and is situated west of Ondangwa near Omagongati. Eheke was the administrative centre for Ondangwa Constituency, and after a split of this constituency in 2013 it is the centre of the Ondangwa Rural constituency. It has various privately owned businesses, such as a supermarket, china shop, and many informal vendors selling traditional foods. Eheke is also the circuit cluster center for the school system in the area. Within Eheke, there is an intermediate-level hospital (Eheke Clinic), which is linked to Oshakati Hospital. Martin Pinehas (Brigadier General Commander of Namibia Air Force) is from Eheke, and many other soldiers. History In 1927 a water pond was established by cattle herders in the area. Villages and settlements in Namibia are distinguished by the status the Government of Namibia has vested in them: Places in Namibia that are governed by a village council are ''villages'', they are the smallest entities of local government. Regions Of Namibia
Namibia uses regions as its first-level subnational administrative divisions. Since 2013, it has 14 regions which in turn are subdivided into Constituencies of Namibia, 121 constituencies. Upon Independence of Namibia, Namibian independence, the pre-existing subdivisions from the South African administration were taken over. Since then, demarcations and numbers of regions and constituencies of Namibia are tabled by delimitation commissions and accepted or declined by the National Assembly of Namibia, National Assembly. Oshana Region
Oshana is one of the fourteen regions of Namibia; its capital is Oshakati. The towns of Oshakati, Ongwediva and Ondangwa, all situated with this region, form an urban cluster with the second largest population concentration in Namibia after the capital Windhoek. , Oshana had 113,112 registered voters. Constituencies Of Namibia
Each of the 14 regions of Namibia is further subdivided into Electoral district, electoral constituencies. The size of the constituencies varies with the size and population of each region. There are currently 121 constituencies in Namibia. The most populous constituency according to the 2011 census was Rundu Urban in the Kavango East region with 63,431 people; the least populous was Okatyali Constituency, Okatyali in the Oshana Region with 3,187 people. Local councillors are directly elected through secret ballots (regional elections) by the inhabitants of their constituencies. Ondangwa Rural
Ondangwa Rural is an electoral constituency in the Oshana Region of Namibia. It had 13,613 inhabitants in 2016 and 7,682 registered voters . The administrative centre of the constituency is the settlement Eheke. Ondangwa Rural was created by splitting the former constituency of Ondangwa into a rural and an urban part in August 2013, following a recommendation of the ''Fourth Delimitation Commission of Namibia'', and in preparation of the 2014 general election. South African Standard Time
South African Standard Time (SAST) is the time zone used by all of South Africa as well as Eswatini and Lesotho. The zone is two hours ahead of UTC ( UTC+02:00) and is the same as Central Africa Time. Daylight saving time is not observed in either time zone. Ondangwa
Ondangwa (earlier spelling ''Ondangua'') is a town in the Oshana Region of northern Namibia, bordering the Oshikoto Region. It had a population of 30,364 people in 2023. Ondangwa was first established as a mission station of the Finnish Missionary Society (the FMS) in 1890. In 1914, it became a local seat of government. Today, Ondangwa is a fast-growing town and the district capital of the Ondangwa electoral constituency. Oshakati
Oshakati is a town in northern Namibia. It is the regional capital of the Oshana Region and one of Namibia's largest cities both by population and as an economic center. It had a population of 58,656 people in 2023. Oshakati was founded in July 1966 and proclaimed a town in 1992. The town was used as a base of operations by the South African Defence Force (SADF) during the South African Border War.
