Efim Alexandrov (born Efimian Ziсerman; 13 May 1960, Pidvolochysk Raion, Ternopil Oblast, Ukrainian SSR) is a Russian artist of the "spoken word” genre (stand-up comedian) and performer of Jewish music. He focuses in particular on Yiddish folk songs, intent on preserving a culture of Yiddish music that is considered endangered in Eastern Europe and Russia. He is a Merited Artist of the Russian Federation, Meritorious Artist. (2007). Parents Alexandrov's parents, Lubov Efimovna and Boris Mikhailovich Ziсerman, were born in the township of Bershad in Vinnytsia Oblast and later interned as Bershad Ghetto prisoners. After the liberation of Bershad in 1944, Boris Ziсerman was called up for military service in the Soviet Army. Following the end of the war in Western Ukraine and his military discharge, he attended and graduated from Lviv University.
