Effective Perl Programming
''Effective Perl Programming'', sometimes known as the ''Shiny Ball Book'' by Perl programmers, is an intermediate to advanced text by Joseph N. Hall covering the Perl programming language. Randal L. Schwartz Randal L. Schwartz (born November 22, 1961), also known as merlyn, is an American author, system administrator and programming consultant. He has written several books on the Perl programming language, and plays a promotional role within the Per ... contributed a foreword and technical editing. ''Effective Perl Programming'' follows the numbered "rules" format begun in Scott Meyers' '' Effective C++''. A small number of errors were corrected in the 2nd and 4th printings. An expanded second edition (), ''Effective Perl Programming: Ways to Write Better, More Idiomatic Perl, 2/E''. by Hall, Joshua A McAdams, and brian d foy was published in 2010 by Pearson.{{Cite web, url=http://www.pearsonhighered.com/educator/product/Effective-Perl-Programming-Ways-to-Write-Better-Mo ...

Programmers
A programmer, computer programmer or coder is an author of computer source code someone with skill in computer programming. The professional titles ''software developer'' and ''software engineer'' are used for jobs that require a programmer. Identification Sometimes a programmer or job position is identified by the language used or target platform. For example, assembly programmer, web developer. Job title The job titles that include programming tasks have differing connotations across the computer industry and to different individuals. The following are notable descriptions. A ''software developer'' primarily implements software based on specifications and fixes bugs. Other duties may include reviewing code changes and testing. To achieve the required skills for the job, they might obtain a computer science or associate degree, attend a programming boot camp or be self-taught. A ''software engineer'' usually is responsible for the same tasks as a develop ...

Perl
Perl is a high-level, general-purpose, interpreted, dynamic programming language. Though Perl is not officially an acronym, there are various backronyms in use, including "Practical Extraction and Reporting Language". Perl was developed by Larry Wall in 1987 as a general-purpose Unix scripting language to make report processing easier. Since then, it has undergone many changes and revisions. Perl originally was not capitalized and the name was changed to being capitalized by the time Perl 4 was released. The latest release is Perl 5, first released in 1994. From 2000 to October 2019 a sixth version of Perl was in development; the sixth version's name was changed to Raku. Both languages continue to be developed independently by different development teams which liberally borrow ideas from each other. Perl borrows features from other programming languages including C, sh, AWK, and sed. It provides text processing facilities without the arbitrary data-length limits of ...

Programming Language
A programming language is a system of notation for writing computer programs. Programming languages are described in terms of their Syntax (programming languages), syntax (form) and semantics (computer science), semantics (meaning), usually defined by a formal language. Languages usually provide features such as a type system, Variable (computer science), variables, and mechanisms for Exception handling (programming), error handling. An Programming language implementation, implementation of a programming language is required in order to Execution (computing), execute programs, namely an Interpreter (computing), interpreter or a compiler. An interpreter directly executes the source code, while a compiler produces an executable program. Computer architecture has strongly influenced the design of programming languages, with the most common type (imperative languages—which implement operations in a specified order) developed to perform well on the popular von Neumann architecture. ...

During his career, he was a frequent speaker at conferences and trade shows. Biography He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from Brown University and an M.S. in computer science from Stanford University. Meyers has expressed opposition to asking programmers to solve design or programming problems during job interviews:"I hate anything that asks me to design on the spot. That's asking to demonstrate a skill rarely req ...

Effective C Plus Plus
Effectiveness or effectivity is the capability of producing a desired result or the ability to produce desired output. When something is deemed effective, it means it has an intended or expected outcome, or produces a deep, vivid impression. Etymology The origin of the word ''effective'' stems from the Latin word , which means "creative, productive, or effective". It surfaced in Middle English between 1300 and 1400 AD. Usage Science and technology Mathematics and logic In mathematics and logic, ''effective'' is used to describe metalogical methods that fit the criteria of an effective procedure. In group theory, a group element acts ''effectively'' (or ''faithfully'') on a point, if that point is not fixed by the action. Physics In physics, an effective theory is, similar to a phenomenological theory, a framework intended to explain certain (observed) effects without the claim that the theory correctly models the underlying (unobserved) processes. In heat t ...
