Eeles Landström
Eeles Enok Landström (3 January 1932 – 29 June 2022) was a Finnish pole vaulter, a member of the Finnish parliament, and a business executive. He won two European titles, in 1954 and 1958, and competed at the 1956 and 1960 Olympics, winning a bronze medal in 1960 and finishing seventh in 1956. Landström also placed 14th in the decathlon at the 1952 games and was selected as the Olympic flag bearer for Finland in 1956 and 1960. Biography Landström was born in Viiala on 3 January 1932. Landström studied in the United States at the University of Michigan and graduated as Bachelor of Science in 1959. He was a two-time Big Ten champion in pole vaulting while at Michigan, in 1956 and 1959. In 1961 he became the first Finnish participant at the Olympic Academy arranged by the International Olympic Committee in Athens. Viiala
Viiala is a former municipality of Finland. On 1 January 2007, it was consolidated with Toijala to form the town of Akaa. Viiala is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Pirkanmaa region. The municipality had a population of 5,329 (2003) and covered an area of 56.78 km2 of which 5.88 km2 is water. The population density was 104.7 inhabitants per km2. A Bachelor of Science (BS, BSc, B.S., B.Sc., SB, or ScB; from the Latin ') is a bachelor's degree that is awarded for programs that generally last three to five years. The first university to admit a student to the degree of Bachelor of Science was the University of London in 1860. Ville-Veikko Salminen (23 August 1937, Turku - 16 January 2006) was a Finnish film, television, stage actor and director. He was one of the founders of the acting companies for both Yleisradio and Mainostelevisio. He is best remembered for his roles in the films of Spede Pasanen, often playing a handsome, suave womanizer - but also had an extensive career in films and TV outside his films. Personal life Salminen was the son of famed Finnish filmmaker Ville Salminen and brother of cinematographer Timo Salminen. Salminen was briefly married to Laila Kinnunen, one of the most famous Finnish singers of the 1950s and 1960s. Their daughter is Milana Misic. Yleisradio Oy (; ), abbreviated as Yle () (formerly styled in all uppercase until 2012), translated into English as the Finnish Broadcasting Company, is Finland's national public broadcasting company, founded in 1926. It is a joint-stock company, which is 99.98% owned by the Finnish state and employs around 3,000 people in Finland. Yle was long funded by revenues obtained from a broadcast receiving license fee payable by the owners of radio sets (1927–1976) and television sets (1958–2012) and through a portion of the broadcasting license fees payable by private television broadcasters. Since 2013, the license fee has been replaced by a public broadcasting tax (known as the Yle tax) collected annually from Finnish citizens and corporations.
