Edvard Liljedahl
Edvard Apolloniussen Liljedahl (6 August 1845, in Vik Municipality - 10 October 1924) was a Norwegian politician for the Liberal Party. He was a member of the Council of State Division in Stockholm in 1889, and Minister of Education and Church Affairs in 1912-1913. Liljedahl died on 10 October 1924 in Vik and was buried there. Biography Edvard Liljedahl was born to Apollonius Liljedahl and Britha Olsdotter Hopperstad in 1845. He received his degree from the Balestrand Teacher's School in 1864 and another from the Stord Seminary in 1866. For a year, he taught school in Leikanger Municipality. He also worked as an office clerk for a justice of the peace. On 18 October 1869, Liljedahl married Barbra Einarsdotter Ramsli. They were the first couple to be married in the newly-built Kyrkjebø Church. They were the parents of Army general Einar Liljedahl. Liberal Party (Norway)
The Liberal Party (, , V; ) is a social liberal political party in Norway. It was founded in 1884 and is the oldest political party in Norway. Despite its native name, the Liberal Party is positioned in the centre on the political spectrum, and usually cooperates much more with the right wing parties. It is a liberal party which has over the time enacted reforms such as parliamentarism, freedom of religion, universal suffrage, and state schooling. For most of the late 19th and early 20th century, it was Norway's largest and dominant political party, but in the postwar era it lost most of its support and became a relatively small party. The party has nevertheless participated in several centrist and centre-right government coalitions in the postwar era. Hvem Er Hvem?
''Hvem er hvem?'' () was a Norwegian book series, presenting facts about notable persons from Norway. The first edition was issued in 1912, and the 14th edition came in 1994. From 1938, the plan was to publish such a book every three years, but the Second World War made that impossible. At the time, such a book was published annually in Denmark and every two years in Sweden. In the 2008 edition, edited by Knut Olav Åmås, one thousand persons were selected for presentation. About one third of the articles are longer, signed biographies, while the rest have a shorter, more encyclopedic format. The latest edition was edited by Knut Olav Åmås and narrowed down to 1,000 people. This differs from the older ones in style in that the articles are in a more journalistic style with personal characteristics, in addition to the purely biographical year information. Einar Liljedahl
Einar Liljedahl (16 January 1882 – February 1955) was a Norwegian military officer. Personal life Liljedahl was born in Kyrkjebø, a son of politician Edvard Liljedahl and Barbra Ramslie. In 1919 he married Ellen Rosenkilde. He was a brother-in-law of Ole Johan Vasbotten. Career Liljedahl graduated as officer from the Norwegian Military Academy in 1903, and from the Norwegian Military College in 1905. He was promoted captain in 1911, major in 1930, colonel in 1934. From 1935 to 1947 he was head of 3rd Division of the Norwegian Army, with the rank of major general. Kyrkjebø Church
Kyrkjebø Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Høyanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Kyrkjebø. It is the church for the Kyrkjebø parish which is part of the Sunnfjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The wooden church was built in a long church design in 1869 using plans drawn up by the architect Christian Christie, who based his designs on the old stave churches in Norway. It was located on the northern shore of the Sognefjorden in the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Sogn. Leirvik
Leirvik is a town and the administrative centre of Stord municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The town lies along the southern coast of the large island of Stord, along the Hardangerfjorden. The town gained "town status" in 1997. The town includes the Eldøyane peninsula where the large Kværner Stord industrial area is located. Balestrand (locally called ''Holmen'') is a village in Sogndal Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the northern shore of the Sognefjorden, at the mouth of the small Esefjorden. It sits about west of the village area of Leikanger (village), Leikanger-Hermansverk and about northwest of the village of Vangsnes (on the southern shore of the Sognefjorden).
