Eduard Pană
Eduard Pană (born 28 May 1944 in Brăneşti) is a retired Romanian ice hockey player. For some years, he was the secretary-general of the Romanian Ice Hockey Federation. Pană was one of the best players in Europe during the 1970s. Brănești, Ilfov
Brănești is a commune in the far east of Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania. Its name is derived from ''Bran'', a Romanian name, and the suffix -ești (placename element), -ești. It is composed of four villages: Brănești, Islaz, Pasărea, and Vadu Anei. The commune is located east of downtown Bucharest, on the border with Călărași County. It lies on the left bank of the river Pasărea (Dâmbovița), Pasărea, which separates it from the town of Pantelimon, Ilfov, Pantelimon and the commune Cernica to the west. Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. Doru Tureanu
Doru Tureanu (11 January 1954 – 11 March 2014) was a Romanian ice hockey player. He played internationally for the Romania men's national ice hockey team, and was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame. Career Tureanu spent his entire career in his hometown, playing for Dinamo Bucuresti in the Romanian Hockey League from 1970 to 1987. With his team, he won the national championship six times, in 1971, 1972, 1973, 1976, 1979 and 1981. Both with Dinamo and the Romanian national team, he played on a forward line with Marian Costea and Dumitru Axinte. For the Romanian national team, he participated in the Group A World Championships in 1977, the Group B World Championships in 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, and 1983, and the Group C World Championships in 1971, 1985, 1986 and 1987. Dezső Varga
Dezideriu "Dezső" Varga (born 14 May 1939) is a Romanian former ice hockey player. As a defenceman, he led his hometown Miercurea Ciuc to two Romanian Hockey League titles. He transferred to the Steaua Rangers in 1965, where he won nine national titles and seven Romanian Hockey League championships. He played for the Romania men's national team from 1959 to 1977, and served as the team captain from 1969 onward. He was the only Romanian to play in three Winter Olympic Games tournaments, and participated in 17 Ice Hockey World Championships. He led Romania to a seventh-place finish at the 1976 Winter Olympics, and the team's only appearance in the top tier of the World Championships in 1977. He received the Torriani Award from the International Ice Hockey Federation in 2024, in recognition of career accomplishments by players from smaller hockey nations.
