Edith Nancy Sophie Bechmann Nielsen (later ''Scheffler'', 12 May 1906 – 23 November 1994) was a Denmark, Danish diving (sport), diver who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics and in the 1928 Summer Olympics. In 1924 she finished fourth in the Diving at the 1924 Summer Olympics - Women's 10 metre platform, 10 metre platform competition. Four years later she was eliminated in the first round of the Diving at the 1928 Summer Olympics - Women's 10 metre platform, 10 metre platform event. References External links

Diving is the sport of jumping or falling into water from a Diving platform, platform or springboard, usually while performing acrobatics. Diving is an internationally recognised sport that is part of the Olympic Games. In addition, unstructured and non-competitive diving is a recreational pastime. Competitors possess many of the same characteristics as gymnastics, gymnasts and dancers, including strength, flexibility, kinaesthetic judgement and air awareness. Some professional divers were originally gymnasts or dancers as both the sports have similar characteristics to diving. Dmitri Sautin holds the record for most Olympic diving medals won, by winning eight medals in total between 1992 and 2008.
