Edge Computing
Edge computing is a distributed computing model that brings computation and data storage closer to the sources of data. More broadly, it refers to any design that pushes computation physically closer to a user, so as to reduce the Latency (engineering), latency compared to when an application runs on a centralized data centre. The term began being used in the 1990s to describe Content Delivery Network, content delivery networks—these were used to deliver website and video content from servers located near users. In the early 2000s, these systems expanded their scope to hosting other applications, leading to early edge computing services. Edge (educational Foundation)
Edge Foundation (styled as EDGE Foundation and also referred to simply as Edge on its website), is a UK-based educational foundation. In 2003, educational services provider Edexcel was partially sold to Pearson PLC. The trustees of Edexcel opted to use the proceeds of the sale to set up an educational foundation, and formed Edge in November 2004. The trustees of the foundation identified the promotion of practical and vocational learning as the new organisation's primary objective. Edge Games, Inc. is an American video game developer and publisher headquartered in Pasadena, California, best known for the practices of its founder and chief executive officer, Tim Langdell, in enforcing trademarks relating to the word "edge", which sources have described as " litigious". Controversial TV was a television channel broadcast in the UK and Ireland, owned by independent production company Edge Media Television. History The channel launched in June 2008 after the founder, Keith Goodyer, acquired EMTV Ltd. The acquisition of EMTV Ltd included their Ofcom broadcast licence, which had previously been used to air the now defunct East Midlands Television. As the licence, and the Sky channel, were known as EMTV, the name "Edge Media Television" was created as a backronym. Edge TV
Edge TV was a Television in Canada, Canadian Category 2 specialty channel, category 2 digital cable specialty channel dedicated to rock and alternative music owned by Corus Entertainment. The channel was inspired by Corus' own Toronto, Ontario radio station, CFNY-FM, 102.1 The Edge. Edge TV featured music videos, interviews, and more related to its music genre. Edge TV was licensed by the CRTC on December 14, 2000. The channel launched on September 7, 2001 and was discontinued on July 15, 2003.
