Edegem
Edegem (, first mentioned as ''Buizegem'' in 1173) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Edegem proper. In 2021, Edegem had a total population of 22,244. The total area is 8.65 km². The old Sint-Antoniuskerk (church of Saint Anthony) is no longer open to the public. It is not sure when it was first built (some sources go back as far as the 16th century). The absence of heavy industry makes Edegem a typical commuter town. Despite its location next to the metropolis of the city of Antwerp, Edegem is not fully urbanized. Marie Gevers
Marie Gevers (30 December 1883 – 9 March 1975) was a Belgian novelist who wrote in the French language. She was born in Edegem, near Antwerp. Educated by her mother, she had a special interest in literature. Very early in life, she composed bucolic poetry, encouraged by Verhaeren. Married in 1908 to Jan Frans Willems and mother of Paul Willems, she dedicated her entire life to her family. In fact, one of the distinctive traits of her poetry was the love of her origins and familial roots. In 1917 her first anthology, ''Missenbourg'', was published. Later, around 1930, she began to focus on writing in prose: ''Madame Orpha ou la sérénade de mai'' (1933), ''Guldentop'' (1934) and ''La ligne de vie'' (1937) continue this constant interest in the little people and life in Antwerp. Koen Metsu
Koen Metsu (born 23 July 1981) is a Belgian politician for the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA). Biography Metsu has been an MP in the Belgian Chamber of Representatives since the 2014 Belgian federal elections. He was reelected in 2019. François Xavier Gustave Marie Joseph Corneille Hubert, Knight de Donnea de Hamoir (born 29 April 1941 in Edegem, Antwerp) is a Belgian politician and a former mayor of the City of Brussels and Minister-President of the Brussels-Capital Region. He is also a former member of the Olivaint Conference of Belgium. Leo Tindemans
Leonard Clemence "Leo" Tindemans (; 16 April 1922 – 26 December 2014) was a Belgian politician. He served as the prime minister of Belgium from 25 April 1974 until he resigned as minister on 20 October 1978. He was a member of the Christian Democratic and Flemish party. Ilse Heylen (born 21 March 1977, Edegem) is a Belgian judoka. She won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Heylen competed in the Half-lightweight (52 kg). She won her first two bouts against Madagascar's Naina Ravaoarisoa and Kazakhstan's Sholpan Kaliyeva before losing to Cuba's Amarilis Savón, the eventual bronze medal winner, she advanced to the repechage however. The Arrondissement of Antwerp (; ) is one of the three administrative arrondissements in Antwerp Province, Belgium. It is both an administrative and a judicial arrondissement. Boris Daenen (; born 22 March 1989), better known by his stage name Netsky ( ), is a Belgian drum and bass producer and musician. The name Netsky is based on the computer virus of the same name. History Netsky is an electronic music producer, artist and DJ from Belgium. He started out producing music of the liquid funk style – drum and bass music with many instrumental layers and frequent vocals. High Contrast's 'Gold Digger' remix was a major influence on him.
