Eddie Root
Edward Alexander Root (26 June 1902 – 7 May 1986) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s and 1930s. A New South Wales state and Australia national representative forward, his club career was played in Sydney with South Sydney, Newtown and St. George. Early life Root was born in Alexandria, New South Wales on 26 June 1902. The ''South Sydney Sentinel'' reported, contemporaneous to his playing career, that Root's age was uncertain, likely owing to his underage military enlistment during World War I. Root enlisted to serve with the Australian Imperial Force on 31 March 1917, then aged 14 years and nine months. The ''South Sydney Sentinel'' states that Root "served at the front" and the ''Brisbane Courier'' claimed he wore a returned serviceman's medal. However, according to Rugby League Project, military records show that Root was discharged in April 1917 when it was discovered he was underage. The Sydney University Rugby League Football Club is a rugby league team currently playing in the Saturday Metro League competition. The University of Sydney was represented in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership from 1920 to 1937 as University, and also in the NSWRL Second Division and Metropolitan League competitions from 1963 to 1976. Alan James Whiticker (born 1958) is an Australian non-fiction author and publisher, with over 50 published books on history, sport, biography, true crime and lifestyle. Peter Burge (rugby)
Peter Harold Boyne Burge (14 February 1884 – 15 July 1956) was an Australian rugby footballer and coach. He represented his country in both rugby league and rugby union. The eldest of the four Burge brothers, Peter was one of the first Australian dual-code rugby internationals. Rugby union career Playing rugby union with South Sydney in 1904 the twenty-year-old Burge was selected for the Metropolis (City) representative side against the Great Britain tourists. When the All Blacks toured in 1905 Burge played against them firstly for Metropolis and then in a New South Wales side. Burge, a lock claimed a total of three international rugby caps for Australia. Arthur Justice
Arthur James "Snowy" Justice (1902–1977) was an Australian rugby league footballer, coach and administrator. He was a rugged for the St George Dragons who made New South Wales state rugby league team, state and Australia national rugby league team, national representative appearances in the late 1920s. Later he was a club administrator, national selector and league judiciary chairman. The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Belmore, a suburb in the Canterbury-Bankstown region of Sydney.
