Edappal is a town which lies near to the town of Ponnani in Ponnani taluk, Malappuram district, Kerala, India. Edappal is at a junction of two roads Thrissur-Kozhikode and Palakkad-Ponnani state highways located from Malappuram. Edappal lies in two panchayaths (local body), Vattamkulam, and Edappal. Edappal shares borders with Thuyyam, Polpakkara, Ayilakkadu, Vattamkulam, and Annakampadu. Sukapuram (also known as ''Chowwara''), one of the earliest Brahmin settlements in Kerala, lies in Edappal. The '' Azhvanchery Thamprakkal'' of Athavanad (originally Maranchery), had influence over the Nambudiris of Sukapuram (''Chowwara''), while the ''Kalpakanchery Thamprakkal'' of Kalpakanchery influenced the rival Nambudiris of Panniyoor. Malappuram District
Malappuram (), is one of the 14 districts in the Indian state of Kerala, with a coastline of . It is the most populous district of Kerala, which is home to around 13% of the total population of the state. The district was formed on 16 June 1969, spanning an area of about . Sukumaran
Edappal Ponnamkuzhi Veettil Parameswaran Sukumaran Nair (10 June 1948 – 16 June 1997), known mononymously as Sukumaran, was an Indian actor and producer of Malayalam films. Sukumaran became a popular film star in Malayalam cinema during the 1970s. He was considered one of the superstar trios of Malayalam cinema during the late 1970s and early 1980s along with Soman and Jayan. Later, he became known for his character roles and antagonistic roles during the 1980s and 1990s, notably the villain in ''CID Unnikrishnan B.A., B.Ed.''(1994) and ''Onnaam Muhurtham''(1991), playing character roles in films like '' Souhrudam''(1990). In 1978, he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in M. T. Vasudevan Nair's '' Bandhanam''. As a producer, he produced such films as '' Irakal'' and '' Padayani''. Ponnani () is a municipality in Ponnani Taluk, Malappuram District, in the state of Kerala, India. It serves as the administrative center of the Taluk and Block Panchayat of the same name. It is situated at the estuary of Bharatappuzha (River Ponnani), on its southern bank, and is bounded by the Arabian Sea on the west and a series of brackish lagoons in the south. Sukapuram
Sukapuram (formerly Chokiram) is a village in Ponnani taluk, Malappuram district of Kerala. It is located near Edappal, on the plains south of the Bharathappuzha. The village is one of the earliest Brahmin settlements ("Sukapuram grama") in Kerala. Sukapuram is famous for its Dakshinamurthy (Siva) Temple. It is believed to have been established by the great rishi Shuka. Siva as Dakshinamurthy is the principal deity of the temple (with goddess Parvathy and god Ganapathy). The Malappuram Metropolitan Area or Malappuram Urban Agglomeration is an urban agglomeration centred around the city of Malappuram, Manjeri in Malappuram district, Kerala, India. It is the 25th largest urban agglomeration in India and the 4th largest in Kerala. It consists of Malappuram municipality, its adjoining municipalities, and census towns. It has a population of 1.7 million as per the 2011 Census of India. It is the only city in Kerala with a million-plus urban agglomeration that is yet to be upgraded to a Municipal Corporation. Devdutt Padikkal (born 7 July 2000) is an Indian international cricketer who plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket and Rajasthan Royals in Indian Premier League (IPL). Thrissur-Ponnani Kole Wetlands (Malayalam: തൃശൂർ-പൊന്നാനി കോൾ പാടങ്ങൾ) is a wetland lying in Thrissur and Malappuram districts in Kerala, India. Karuvattu Mana Vasudevan Namboothiri (born 13 September 1925), better known simply as Namboothiri, is an Indian painter and sculptor, known for his line art and copper relief works. He has done illustrations for many Malayalam writers such as Thakazhy Shivasankara Pillai, Kesavadev, M. T. Vasudevan Nair, Uroob, S. K. Pottekkatt, Edasseri Govindan Nair, and V.K.N. and is reported to be one of the most prolific literary illustrators in the world. He is a former chairman of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi. The Akademi awarded him the Raja Ravi Varma Award in 2003. He is also a recipient of the Kerala State Film Award for Best Art Director. 2011 Census Of India
The 2011 Census of India or the 15th Census of India, Indian Census was conducted in two phases, house listing and population enumeration. The House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved the collection of information about all buildings. Information for National Population Register (NPR) was also collected in the first phase, which will be used to issue a 12-digit unique identification number to all registered Indian residents by Aadhaar, Unique Identification Authority of India. Akkitham Achuthan Namboothiri (18 March 1926 – 15 October 2020), popularly known as Akkitham, was an Indian poet and essayist who wrote in Malayalam. He was known for a simple and lucid style of writing, exploring themes of profound love and compassion in his works. Some of his prominent works included ''Irupatham Noottandinte Ithihasam'' (English: Epic of the 20th century), ''Balidarshanam (''English: The vision of Bali)'','' and ''Nimisha Kshetram'' (English: Holy moment)''.''
