Ed Stanczak
Edmund Andrew Stanczak (August 15, 1921 – May 30, 2004) was an American professional basketball player. He played for the Anderson Packers between 1946 and 1950, then the Boston Celtics in 1950–51. In 1948–49 – Anderson's last season as a member of the National Basketball League (United States), National Basketball League – Stanczak led the league in games played (61) and helped them win the NBL championship. Guard (basketball)
Basketball is a sport with five players on the court for each team at a time. Each player is assigned to different positions defined by the strategic role they play. Guard, forward and center are the three main position categories. The standard team features two guards, two forwards, and a center. The guards are typically called the "back court" and the forwards and centers the "front court". Over time, as more specialized roles developed, each of the guards and forwards came to be differentiated. Today, each of the five positions is known by a unique name and number: point guard (PG) or 1, the shooting guard (SG) or 2, the small forward (SF) or 3, the power forward (PF) or 4, and the center (C) or 5. The 1950–51 NBA season was the fifth season of the National Basketball Association. The season ended with the Rochester Royals winning the NBA Championship, beating the New York Knicks 4 games to 3 in the 1951 NBA Finals, NBA Finals. Undrafted NBA Players
The National Basketball Association (NBA) holds an annual draft where teams select eligible players to join the league. While most NBA players are drafted, undrafted players occasionally earn roster spots as well. Sometimes, they even outperform more celebrated draft picks. The number of rounds in the draft has evolved since the first one in 1947. The 1960 and 1968 drafts were 21 rounds, before settling at 10 rounds by 1974 (in 1977, however, the draft was held in eight); it was reduced to seven rounds in 1985. The 1950 NBA playoffs was the postseason, postseason tournament of the inaugural National Basketball Association 1949–50 NBA season, 1949–50 season.
