Ebru Günay
Ebru Günay (born 1 January 1982, Bingöl, Turkey) is a Kurdish jurist and a politician of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP). She was elected a member of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in 2018 and is currently the spokeswoman of the HDP. Education and professional career Ebru Güney studied law at the Dicle University, from which she graduated in 2006. Following she worked at the Asrin Law Firm, and was involved in the defense of Abdullah Öcalan. She also obtained an MSc in human rights law from the Bilgi University in Istanbul. Legal prosecution Ebru Güney was arrested due to an investigation into the activities of the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) in 2009 and prosecuted during the KCK-trial in which the defendants were accused of supporting a terrorist organization. Grand National Assembly Of Turkey
The Grand National Assembly of Turkey ( ), usually referred to simply as the GNAT or TBMM, also referred to as , in Turkish, is the Unicameralism, unicameral Turkey, Turkish legislature. It is the sole body given the legislative prerogatives by the Constitution of Turkey, Turkish Constitution. It was founded in Ankara on 23 April 1920 amid the Turkish War of Independence, National Campaign. 2018 Turkish Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Turkey on 24 June 2018 as part of general elections, with presidential elections taking place on the same day. Originally scheduled for 27 October 2019, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called snap elections on 18 April after months of speculation. With the passage of a series of constitutional amendments in the 2017 referendum, the number of MPs will be increased from the previous 550 to 600. These representatives will be elected by the constituents of the 87 electoral districts of Turkey by party-list proportional representation. The referendum in 2017 triggered a transition from a parliamentary system to an executive presidency. Duvar was an online news portal which focuses mainly on Turkish politics. Duvar's headquarters are located in Sariyer Istanbul. History It was founded in 2016 by Vedat Zencir, the first conscientious objector in Turkey. Garo Paylan
Garo Paylan (Armenian: Կարօ Փայլան, born 1972) is a politician from Turkey and one of the country's leading democracy activists. Paylan was among the few Armenians elected to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and served for two consecutive terms in 2015–2018 and 2018–2023, representing Istanbul and Diyarbakir. The number of Kurdish villages depopulated by Turkey is estimated at around 3,000. Reis Sedat Peker (; born 26 June 1971) is a Turkish mafia boss and whistle-blower who has made various allegations about Turkish politicians and numerous government engagements in illegal activities through his own YouTube channel. He has described himself as a pan-Turkist and Turanist. Early life and education Sedat was born in Adapazarı, in the Turkish province of Sakarya. He spent considerable time in Germany. Selahattin Demirtaş
Selahattin Demirtaş (born 10 April 1973) is a Kurdish politician, lawyer and author. He was the co-leader of the left-wing pro- Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), serving alongside Figen Yüksekdağ from 2014 to 2018. Selahattin Demirtaş announced that he left politics after the May 2023 elections. Demirtaş was the presidential candidate of the HDP in the 2014 presidential election, coming in third place. He led the HDP to gather 13.1% at the June 2015 parliament elections and 10.7% in the snap elections in November 2015, coming 4th in each election.
