Eastwood is an Unincorporated area#United States, unincorporated community in southwestern Carter County, Missouri, Carter County, in the Ozarks of southeast Missouri. The community lies within the Mark Twain National Forest, approximately seven miles south of Van Buren, Missouri, Van Buren, at the intersection of Missouri Route C, Routes C and Missouri Route F, F. History Eastwood was platted in 1910, and named after one of its founders, R. H. Eastwood. A post office was established at Eastwood in 1911, and remained in operation until 1923. Carter County is a county in the Ozarks of Missouri. At the 2020 census, it had a population of 5,202. The largest city and county seat is Van Buren. The county was officially organized on March 10, 1859, and is named after Zimri A. Carter, a pioneer settler who came to Missouri from South Carolina in 1812. Mark Twain National Forest
Mark Twain National Forest (MTNF) is a U.S. National Forest located in the southern half of Missouri, composed of nine disconnected parcels. MTNF was established on September 11, 1939. It is named for author Mark Twain, a Missouri native. The MTNF covers of which is public owned, of which are Wilderness, and National Scenic River area. MTNF spans 29 counties and represents 11% of all forested land in Missouri. MTNF's nine tracts are divided into six distinct ranger districts: Ava-Cassville-Willow Springs, Eleven Point, Houston-Rolla, Cedar Creek, Poplar Bluff, Potosi-Fredericktown, and the Salem. Van Buren, Missouri
Van Buren is a city in Carter County, Missouri, United States. It is the county seat and largest city in Carter County. Van Buren was founded in 1833 as the county seat of Ripley County and was named after then Vice President of the United States, Martin Van Buren. In 1859, Van Buren became a part of the newly created Carter County and was subsequently selected to be the county seat. The 2020 U.S. Census showed Van Buren with a population of 747. History In 1833, a commission appointed to choose a site for the county seat of Ripley County selected a site west and across Current River from the present location of Van Buren.
