Eastern Health
Eastern Health was the largest integrated health authority in Newfoundland and Labrador. The organization provided a full continuum of health and community services, including public health, long-term care, and acute (hospital) care to a regional population of more than 300,000. Eastern Health was established from seven previous services in April 2005. It was governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees appointed by the Minister of Health and Community Services according to the Regional Health Authorities Act. The geographic boundaries for Eastern Health included the island portion of the province east of (and including) Port Blandford. Port Blandford is a town in eastern Newfoundland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is in Division No. 7 on Clode Sound. The population in 1940 was 539, and increased to 631 by 1956. Avalon Peninsula
The Avalon Peninsula () is a large peninsula that makes up the southeast portion of the island of Newfoundland in Canada. It is in size. The peninsula is home to 270,348 people, about 52% of the province's population, according to the 2016 Canadian census. The peninsula is the location of St. John's, the provincial capital and largest city. It is connected to the main section of the island by the wide Isthmus of Avalon. The peninsula protrudes into the rich fishing zones near the Grand Banks. The Bonavista Peninsula is a large peninsula on the east coast of the island of Newfoundland in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It consists of 50 incorporated towns/unincorporated communities which have a population of 12,176 as of the 2016 Canadian Census. Bonavista is the largest population centre on the peninsula.
