Eastbourne Borough F.C.
Eastbourne Borough Football Club is an association football club based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, England. The team competes in the National League South, the sixth level of the English football league system. The club joined the Southern Combination Football League, Sussex County League in 1983 as a founding member of the new Division Three. Following two successive promotions in 1986–87 and 1987–88 under their then manager, Pete Cherry, they played in Division One until the end of the 20th century. The club then experienced a rise through the divisions under Garry Wilson (footballer), Garry Wilson, gaining promotion to the National League (division), Conference Premier in 2007–08 Football Conference, 2007–08. The Oval (Eastbourne)
Princes Park in Eastbourne, East Sussex, England, is a public park east of Eastbourne Town Centre and the Victorian era, Victorian seafront. The park consists of an 18 hole putting green, a bowling green, a boating lake (known as Crumbles Pond) and 2 small children's play areas, one of which has a paddling pool. There is also a football ground within the park, known as The Oval, which is the home of Eastbourne United A.F.C., and a playing field which hosts travelling funfairs and circuses several times per year. The park was originally called Gilbert's Recreation Ground, named after the land owner, and was leased to Eastbourne Borough Council in 1907. The Southern League is a football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from East Anglia, the South and Midlands of England, and South Wales. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The structure of the Southern League has changed several times since its formation in 1894, and currently there are 87 clubs which are divided into four divisions. Tamworth won the Premier Division and earned promotion to the Football Conference for the first time. Lewes () is the county town of East Sussex, England. The town is the administrative centre of the wider district of the same name. It lies on the River Ouse at the point where the river cuts through the South Downs. A traditional market town and centre of communications, in 1264 it was the site of the Battle of Lewes. Kettering Town won the Premier Division and earned promotion to the Football Conference. Newport (Isle of Wight), King's Lynn, Merthyr Tydfil and Salisbury City were relegated from the Premier Division, whilst Hastings Town, Halesowen Town, Grantham Town and Chippenham Town were promoted from the Eastern and Western Divisions, the former two as champions. Wisbech Town were relegated to the eighth level and Bilston Town resigned and dropped to the ninth level, whilst Bloxwich United of the Western Division folded during the season and their record was expunged. Eastbourne () is a town and seaside resort in East Sussex, on the south coast of England, east of Brighton and south of London. It is also a local government district with borough status. Garry Wilson (Footballer)
Garry Wilson (born 25 March 1963 in Glasgow) is a Scottish former footballer and manager. As a player, he appeared for Queen's Park, Stranraer and gained a Scottish Under-18 cap. He is most known for his time as manager of Eastbourne Borough, spending 13 years at the helm. In his time at the club he won several promotions, taking the club from the Sussex County League to the Conference National. Playing career Garry started his playing career with a youth team called Campsie Black Watch and at the age of 20 joined Scottish Second Division side Queens Park as an amateur in which he spent two years before joining Kirkintilloch Roy Rob for a season where he headed to south west Scotland to semi-professional Scottish Second Division side Stranraer.
