East District () is a District (Taiwan), district in east Hsinchu City, Taiwan. It is the second largest of the three districts in Hsinchu City. The East District is home to the Hsinchu Science and Industrial Park. District (Taiwan)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of Taiwan's Special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities of the second level and Provincial city (Taiwan), provincial cities of the third level formerly under its provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme: Ordinary districts are governed directly by the municipality/city government, with district administrators appointed by mayors to four-year terms. The Black Bat Squadron Memorial Hall () is a memorial hall dedicated to Black Bat Squadron located in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan. ''Jinshi'' () was the highest and final degree in the imperial examination in Imperial China. The examination was usually taken in the imperial capital in the palace, and was also called the Metropolitan Exam. Recipients are sometimes referred to in English-language sources as Imperial Scholars. The ''jinshi'' degree was first created after the institutionalization of the civil service exam. Initially it had been "for six categories" but was later consolidated into a single degree. The examination system first appeared during the Han dynasty, but the ''jinshi'' degree first appeared under the reign of Emperor Yang of Sui. The Image Museum of Hsinchu City () is a museum about cinema in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan. History The museum building was initially built in 1933 as the Hsinchu Municipal Theater or Yule Theater. It was the first luxury theater at that time with air conditioner in Taiwan with a capacity of 500 audiences. In 1944, the second floor of the building was heavily damaged by aerial bombing during the Second Sino-Japanese War by the Allied Forces. In 1945 after the handover of Taiwan to China, the theater was rebuilt and opened as the Kuomin Theater in 1946. It subsequently attracted huge crowds as a movie house. It was used as a venue for concert halls and even army recruitment drive. Hsinchu Zoo
The Hsinchu Zoo () is a zoo in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan. Established in 1936, it is Taiwan's oldest zoo to continuously operate at the same location. The Hsinchu Taiwan Pavilion Expo Park () was a pavilion in East District, Hsinchu City, Taiwan.
