Eagle Rock is an unincorporated community in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. It is located at 35°47'28N 78°24'31W, and is approximately east of Knightdale, and northwest of Wendell, just to the southeast of the interchange of US 64 and US 64-Business. Southeastern Free Will Baptist College lies within the community. The Hood–Anderson Farm is located in Eagle Rock and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Knightdale, North Carolina
Knightdale is a town in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2020 census, Knightdale has a population of 19,435, up from 11,401 in 2010. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the town's population to be 17,843, as of July 1, 2019. Knightdale's population grew 10.4% from 2010 to 2013, making it the second fastest-growing community in the Research Triangle region for that time period. Named for Henry Haywood Knight, a local Wake County landowner who donated land to found a railroad depot, the town was incorporated in 1927. By the 1960s, the economic center of town migrated from the area around the rail depot to U.S. Highway 64, which ran north of downtown Knightdale. Wendell, North Carolina
Wendell ( ) is a town in Wake County, North Carolina, United States. It is a satellite town of Raleigh, the state capital. The population was 9,793 at the 2020 census. History Incorporated in 1903, Wendell was settled in the 1850s, when farmers in Granville County were victims of a blight that came to be known as the Granville County Wilt. Their tobacco crops failed, and they chose to move to a new location with more fertile land for their crops. As settlement increased, a small village took form. The villagers asked the local schoolteacher, M.A. Griffin, to choose a name. Griffin suggested they call it Wendell, in honor of his favorite poet, Oliver Wendell Holmes. However, the townspeople pronounce each syllable with equal emphasis, not as the poet's middle name is said. The Town seal was adopted on April 4, 1963. Southeastern Free Will Baptist College
Southeastern Free Will Baptist College is a college of the Free Will Baptist denomination located in Wendell, North Carolina. It was started in Virginia Beach, Virginia at Gateway FWB Church. Jim Marcum took over as President of the college in 2012, replacing Dr. Lorenza Stox. Jeff Jones is Chairman of the Board of Directors. According to the college's website, "The purpose of Southeastern Free Will Baptist College is to train young men and women for church-related ministries." In 2018 Nate Ange took over as President, replacing Jim Marcum. Degrees and certificates Southeastern was established in 1983 and offers bachelor's degrees in Pastoral Theology, Teacher Education, Missions, Music, Bible, and Business Administration. Hood–Anderson Farm
The Hood–Anderson Farm is a historic home and farm and national historic district located at Eagle Rock, Wake County, North Carolina, a suburb of the state capital Raleigh. The main house was built about 1839, and is an example of transitional Federal / Greek Revival style I-house. It is two stories with a low-pitched hip roof and a rear two-story, hipped-roof ell. The front facade features a large, one-story porch, built in 1917, supported by Tuscan order columns. Also on the property are the contributing combined general store and post office (1854), a one-room dwelling, a two-room tenant/slave house, a barn (1912), a smokehouse, and several other outbuildings and sites including a family cemetery.
