EXTRA Artillery Rocket System
EXTRA ("Extended Range Artillery") is an artillery rocket system developed and manufactured by Israel Military Industries (IMI) and used by the Israel Defense Forces, Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Azerbaijan, Vietnam People's Armed Forces, Vietnam and the Kazakhstan, Kazakh Army since 2013. It has a maximum range of 150km with a 120kg unitary warhead and accuracy of 10m Circular error probable, CEP. The EXTRA missiles can be launched by IMI's Lynx (multiple rocket launcher), Lynx, as well as from a variety of other available launchers. The ship launched version is called TRIGON. IMI developed an air launched version of the missile, originally called MARS. The air-launched version was later renamed Rampage (missile), Rampage; it was scheduled to enter series production in 2019. In the late nineteenth century, due to improvements in the power and range of conventional artillery, the use of early military rockets declined; they were finally used on a small scale by both sides during the American Civil War. Modern rocket artillery was first employed during World War II, in the form of the German Nebelwerfer family of rocket ordnance designs, Soviet Katyusha rocket launcher, Katyusha-series and numerous other systems employed on a smaller scale by the Western allies and Japan. A surface-to-surface missile (SSM) is a missile designed to be launched from the ground or the sea and strike targets on land or at sea. Rampage (missile)
The Rampage, initially named MARS (Multi-purpose, Air-launched Rocket System), is an air-to-surface missile developed by Israel Military Industries and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) derived from the EXTRA. It is a standoff weapon designed to hit high-value targets such as radar installations, communications centers, weapons storage facilities and airfields while the launch aircraft remains out of range of air defenses. It was officially unveiled in June 2018 and reportedly used for the first time in April 2019 in Syria. As of July 2023, the Royal Air Force is looking at using Rampage missiles after donating Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine. PULS ("Precise & Universal Launching System", formerly known as ''Lynx'' ''MRL'') is a multiple rocket launcher developed and manufactured by ELBIT Systems (formerly Israel Military Industries) and used by Israel Defense Forces and other countries.
