Durack, Northern Territory
Durack is an inner-city suburb of Palmerston. It is 22 km southeast of the Darwin CBD. Its local government area is the City of Palmerston. Durack is bound to the north by the Stuart Highway; to the west and south is University Avenue, and to the east is Roystonea Avenue. The suburb consists mostly of recent developments, beginning in the early 1990s, and includes three estates as designated by the developers of the area: Fairway Waters, The Mews, and The Heights. The Durack area was left unnamed when Palmerston was divided into suburbs, as the space was originally set aside for the use of a university in the area. When urban development of this area began in 1996, it became necessary to give the area a name. Tivendale, Northern Territory
__NOTOC__ Tivendale is a suburb in the Northern Territory of Australia located in Darwin about east of Darwin City. Tivendale consists of land bounded partly by the Tiger Brennan Drive in the north and the Adelaide-Darwin Railway in the north-east and the east, and partly in the south by the Hudson Creek. The name is derived from a nearby road called Tivendale Road which is itself named after Lyle Mason Tivendale, a Northern Territory resident who worked as a stock and meat inspector and as a health inspector during the first half of the twentieth century. The suburb’s boundary and name were gazetted on 21 April 2004. The 2016 Australian census which was conducted in August 2016 reports that Tivendale had no people living within its boundaries. Tivendale is located within the federal division of Solomon, the territory electoral division of Spillett and the unincorporated area known as the Northern Territory Rates Act Area. The Northern Territory (commonly abbreviated as NT; formally the Northern Territory of Australia) is an Australian territory in the central and central northern regions of Australia. Patrick Durack
Patrick Durack (March 1834 – 20 January 1898) was a pastoral pioneer in Western Australia. His family were struggling tenant farmers from Magherareagh near Scarriff in County Clare, Ireland, who moved from Ireland to New South Wales in 1853. Two months after arriving in New South Wales, his father, Michael was killed accidentally. He settled his mother and siblings, and moved to Victoria, returning 18 months later with £1000. On 31 July 1862 Durack married Mary Costello, only daughter of Michael Costello, a native of County Tipperary, and his wife Mary Tully, a native of County Galway. Patrick and Mary had eight children (two of whom died in infancy), including Michael Durack. Goulburn provided insufficient outlets for Durack's energy, land hunger and organizing powers. The City of Palmerston is a local government area of the Northern Territory of Australia. It contains the suburbs of Darwin's satellite city, Palmerston, and is situated between the outer industrial areas of Darwin and the rural areas of Howard Springs. __NOTOC__ Elrundie is a suburb in the Northern Territory of Australia located in Darwin about east of Darwin City overlooking a part of Darwin Harbour known as the East Arm. Elrundie consists of land associated with a peninsula known as the Elrundie Peninsula and part of the channels of the following waterbodies that bound the peninsula's coastline: the Hudson Creek to the north-west, the Elizabeth River to the south-west and the Myrmidon Creek to the south-east. Palmerston is a planned satellite city of Darwin, the capital and largest city in Australia's Northern Territory. The city is situated approximately 20 kilometres from Darwin and 10 kilometres from Howard Springs and the surrounding rural areas.
