Duncan Selbie
Duncan Selbie (born 1962/3) is a British government official who is a senior advisor to the Department of Health and Social Care on global and public health. He served as Chief Executive of Public Health England from its foundation in 2013 until he was removed in August 2020 by the Govt which in 2021 formed it into the UK Health Security Agency. Since December 2020, he has been president of the International Association of National Public Health Institutes. Previously, from 2007 to 2012 he was Chief Executive of Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, and earlier South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is an NHS trust that provides mental health services for adults, older people, children and adolescents living in the London boroughs of Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and Wandsworth .... Public Health England
Public Health England (PHE) was an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care in England which began operating on 1 April 2013 to protect and improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities. Its formation came as a result of the reorganisation of the National Health Service (NHS) in England outlined in the Health and Social Care Act 2012. It took on the role of the Health Protection Agency, the National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse and a number of other health bodies. UK Health Security Agency
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is a government agency in the United Kingdom, responsible since April 2021 for England-wide public health protection and infectious disease capability, and replacing Public Health England. It is an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). The formation of the UKHSA essentially transferred Public Health England's health improvement functions to DHSC, while its health protection elements form part of the new government agency. The International Association of National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI) is an international umbrella organization of national public health institutes (NPHIs), public health government agencies working to improve national disease prevention and response. IANPHI is made up of 100+ members, located in more than 90 countries. An important goal of IANPHI is to improve health outcomes by strengthening NPHIs or supporting countries in creating new NPHIs.
