Doug Padman
Dudley Gordon Padman OBE (16 June 1885 – 31 August 1970) was a Liberal Party politician. Padman was born in Adelaide and educated at Bridgewater, South Australia and Prince Alfred College. He married Bertha Elizabeth Scholz in 1912 and they had a daughter and two sons. He was an alderman of Albury Council from 1930 to 1947 and Mayor from 1939 until 1945. Padman was elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing the seat of Albury in 1947, and served until 1965. He was made an OBE in 1966. The Liberal Party of Australia (New South Wales Division), commonly known as the New South Wales Liberals, is the state division of the Liberal Party of Australia in New South Wales. The party currently governs in New South Wales in coalition with the National Party of Australia (NSW). The party is part of the federal Liberal Party which is in opposition nationally. Following the Liberal Party's formation in October 1944, the NSW division of the Liberal Party was formed in January 1945. For the following months, the Democratic Party and Liberal Democratic Party joined the Liberal Party and were replaced by the new party's NSW division. Cleaver Bunton
Cleaver Ernest Bunton (5 May 190220 January 1999) was a long-serving Mayor of Albury, New South Wales, Australia, who came to national prominence in 1975 when he was controversially appointed to the Senate by New South Wales Liberal Party Premier, Tom Lewis, to fill a position vacated by an Australian Labor Party member. Early life Born in Albury, Bunton left school at 13 and initially worked as a clerk in a solicitor's office before becoming an accountant. He also was involved in Albury sporting and community affairs, playing Australian rules football with the Albury Football Club, becoming captain-coach and club secretary at 17. His younger brother Haydn Bunton went on to become a notable Australian rules footballer. Bunton married Eileen O'Malley in 1930. Gordon Mackie (politician)
Gordon Charlton Mackie (13 August 1911 – 5 May 1990) was an Australian politician, elected as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing the seat of Albury. Mackie moved to Albury as a young man where his father was a businessman and farmer and Gordon Mackie became a grazier. He served in the Second Australian Imperial Force during World War II. He married Edna and had one son and one daughter. He was a councillor of Culcairn Shire from 1959 until 1965 and deputy president of it from 1959 until 1965. Mackie was elected the Liberal member for Albury in 1965 and held it until he retired in 1977. He was later replaced by Harold Mair Harold David Mair, OAM (2 June 1919 – 7 September 2011) was an Australian politician. Mair was mayor of Albury from 1976 until 1977. Cornelius John Hurley (21 July 1894 – 27 August 1985) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for 109 days in 1946–7. He was a member of the Labor Party. Early life Hurley was born in Burramine near Yarrawonga, Victoria and was the son of a farmer. He was educated to elementary level at Telford Public School. He initially worked in rural industries and was a farmer near Henty after 1910. He was involved in community organizations including the Pastures Protection Board and the Australian Wheatgrowers' Federation.
