Deltasonic
Deltasonic is a British record label based in Liverpool, England. Previously joint ventured with Sony Music, it is now totally independent. It was formed by Alan Wills, the former drummer with Liverpool bands Shack and Top, and associated with the ' cosmic Scouse' and 'scallydelica' music scenes. History Aiming to be like Mo'Wax, Wills started his first label EVA in January 2000, primarily to release material by Joe Fearon a.k.a. Paracruzar. However, after three promo-only releases on clear 10-inch vinyl, including the first release by 'Mountaineers' (credited on the record as 'The Sandpeople'), he decided to move on to new areas and, with the help of his partner Ann Heston and consultancy from Simon Duffy (Tri Tone), he started a new label called Deltasonic Records. The Sand Band
The Sand Band are a British alternative folk band from Liverpool consisting of guitarist / songwriter David McDonnell and bass guitarist Ben Curtis. After working in a music shop together in 2002 and playing together for a number of years, David McDonnell and Scott Marmion formed The Sand Band in 2009. Previously McDonnell played live guitar on Richard Ashcroft’s 2002 Human Conditions tour and The Coral’s 2005 The Invisible Invasion tour while Marmion played in Liverpool band Ella Guru. McDonnell played guitar on and helped record The Coral’s The Curse of Love album in 2005 and helped record their 2007 album Roots & Echoes. McDonnell and Marmion got together in 2009 to record '' All Through the Night'' at McDonnell’s Sefton Park flat in Liverpool. The Coral
The Coral are an English rock band, formed in 1996 in Hoylake on the Wirral Peninsula, Merseyside. The band emerged during the early 2000s. Their 2002 debut album ''The Coral'', from which came the single " Dreaming of You", was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and listed as the fourth best album of the year by ''NME''. Their second album, ''Magic and Medicine'' (2003), produced four UK Top 20 singles, including " Pass It On". In 2008, after guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones left the band, they continued as a five-piece. The Little Flames were an indie rock band from Hoylake, England. The band consisted of Eva Petersen (Vocals), Greg Mighall (Drums), Joe Edwards (Bass), Miles Kane (Guitar) and Mat Gregory (Guitar). Their music can best be described as indie rock with some 1960s inspiration, slightly similar to The Coral. Fans of the band include Arctic Monkeys, who could be seen wearing Little Flames T-shirts at concerts at the Astoria in London. The band has played shows with bands such as the Arctic Monkeys, The Coral, The Dead 60s and The Zutons. The band's song "Put Your Dukes Up John" was covered by the Arctic Monkeys for the B-side of their single, "Leave Before the Lights Come On". The Rascals were an English rock band formed in Hoylake, Merseyside in 2007. Their debut album '' Rascalize'', was released on 23 June 2008. Its former lead singer Miles Kane has a second band, the Last Shadow Puppets, with Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys. In August 2009, it was announced that Miles Kane had left the Rascals to focus on a solo career. The Dead 60s were an English ska punk band from Liverpool. The band's sound is a mixture of punk rock, ska, dub and reggae. They have taken influences from artists such as King Tubby, Jackie Mittoo, Gang of Four and A Certain Ratio. History Matt McManamon and Charlie Turner formed a band during their teenage years under the name 'Rest Home'. They changed their name to 'Pinhole' and released the 4-track "122 Duke Street" EP (named after the address of Liverpool bar The Pit, where the band played many of its first shows). Ben Gordon and Bryan Johnson joined Pinhole in 2000. Pinhole released the "Breaking Hearts & Windows" EP on Thrill City Records in 2001 and the "So Over You" / "Morning Rain" single on Too Nice Records in 2002. They a recorded a John Peel session at Maida Vale studios on 27 January 2002. This was broadcast on 7 February 2002. The Mountaineers (band)
Mountaineers is a Welsh pop group, consisting of founding members Alex Germains (vocals and guitar), Ceri James (vocals and keyboard), and Tomas Kelar (drums and vocals). Having been discovered by Deltasonic founder Alan Wills, they were the first act to sign to the record label Deltasonic, home of Liverpudlian bands The Coral and The Zutons. The group produced all their own music. The original line-up released an eponymous 6-track EP (later dubbed the ''Red Thong EP'' after the opening track) on the Deltasonic imprint in 2001. This was picked up by BBC Radio 1 disc jockey Mark Radcliffe who played ''Red Thong'' (the track) on his national daytime show for a week in the November of that year. Mute Records signed the band and they released another eponymous 6-track EP (known as the ''Self Catering EP''; again after the title of the opening track) in 2003, followed by the album ''Messy Century'' in the September. The Zutons
The Zutons are an English indie rock band, formed in 2001 in Liverpool. The band are currently composed of singer, songwriter and guitarist Dave McCabe, drummer Sean Payne and saxophonist Abi Harding. They released their debut album, '' Who Killed...... The Zutons?'' in May 2004 and achieved chart success with " Why Won't You Give Me Your Love?" and "Valerie", both taken from their second studio album ''Tired of Hanging Around'' in 2006. Both singles reached number 9 in the UK Singles Chart. The band quietly disbanded in 2009, several months after they released the third studio album, '' You Can Do Anything'' in June 2008, with no official announcement. They ultimately reunited in September 2016 for a one-off show billed as "probably helast ever" in remembrance of their friend, actor and former Tramp Attack frontman Kristian Ealey. The Longcut are an English rock band, formed in 2002 in Manchester. Career The Longcut formed in Manchester in 2002, while attending the University of Manchester. Originally a four-piece, their vocalist left soon after the band started and the remaining members intended to make purely instrumental music. In 2003 their experiments with cheap drum machines led to a new sound and their unusual stage setup. The band's original sound and energetic live performances brought them to the attention of the record industry in 2004, eventually signing to Liverpool's Deltasonic label. During 2004 the band also became friends with Manchester promoters Akoustik Anarkhy and indie/grunge band, Nine Black Alps. The two groups shared bills together at various house parties (one in Longsight was filmed for the video to "Transition") organised by Akoustik Anarkhy and The Longcut, eventually touring together in early 2006.
