Harry Davie
Henry James Davie (22 May 1905 – 17 March 1968) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1920s. Born in Fitzroy, Davie was very lightly built but could play in the key forward positions as well as in the pockets. He holds the record for most goals on debut by a Melbourne footballer, with a bag of six against Richmond when he played his first game in 1924. In Melbourne's Round 14, encounter with Carlton the following season at Princes Park, Davie kicked 13 goals and 5 behinds. It remains the most ever goals kicked by an individual in a game at the ground and the equal most by a player against Carlton anywhere with both Tony Lockett and Tony Modra kicking 13 goals against Carlton in the 1990s. Davide Biale (born 5 April 1994), better known by his online alias Davie504, is an Italian musician and YouTuber. He is best known for playing bass guitar, primarily with a slapping technique, and creating several covers and viral videos. Career Biale began playing bass in high school after being influenced by Kiss bassist Gene Simmons. In 2011, he created a channel named Davie504, and began to upload unconventional cover performances of songs in 2012. Examples of these videos include him using M&M's to cover songs by Eminem, a Korn medley played with corn cobs, and a Red Hot Chili Peppers medley played with actual chili peppers. William Richardson Davie
William Richardson Davie (June 20, 1756 – November 29, 1820) was a Founding Father of the United States, military officer during the Revolutionary War, and 10th Governor of North Carolina, from 1798–1799. A member of the Federalist Party, Davie served as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention as a representative of North Carolina. He is also one of the key founders of the University of North Carolina. Early life Davie was born in Egremont, County Cumberland in North West England, where his father Archibald Davie had settled with his mother, Mary Richardson, whose family came from Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Timothy Douglas Davie (born 25 April 1967 in Croydon, London) is the current and seventeenth Director-General of the BBC. He succeeded Tony Hall in the role on 1 September 2020. Theodore Davie
Theodore Davie (March 22, 1852 in Brixton, London – March 7, 1898 in Victoria, British Columbia) was a British Columbia lawyer, politician, and jurist. He practised law in Cassiar and Nanaimo before settling in Victoria and becoming a leading criminal lawyer. He was the brother of Alexander Edmund Batson Davie, who served as premier of British Columbia from 1887 to 1889. Theodore Davie was first elected to the provincial legislature in 1882. In 1889, he became attorney-general under Premier John Robson, and succeeded Robson as premier in 1892. Davie's government passed a ''Redistribution Bill'' to give the mainland of the province greater representation in the legislature. His government also provided financial incentives to the railways in an effort to stimulate the economy. Alexander Grimmond Davie (born 10 June 1945) is a Scottish former footballer, who played as goalkeeper. Davie spent most of his career with Dundee United and represented Scotland at under-23 level and New Zealand at senior level. In 1967, Ted Bates tried to sign Davie for £15,000 but the offer was rejected. He eventually joined Southampton in May 1970 (for a fee of £12,500) as cover for Eric Martin, but only made one appearance for the Saints on 20 February 1971 in a 5–1 defeat at Manchester United. Four of Manchester United's goals were scored by Alan Gowling. He returned to his home town club in May 1972 where he enjoyed several good seasons before emigrating to New Zealand. Michael Davie (15 January 1924 – 7 December 2005) was a British journalist. Born in Cranleigh, Surrey, Davie was the last of three children born to the head of a firm of stockbrokers. He was educated at Haileybury and Imperial Service College, Haileybury and Merton College, Oxford, where he began reading English, but after war service in the Royal Navy, returned to study History. Before he graduated, Davie was offered a job as diplomatic correspondent by David Astor, editor of ''The Observer'', but the post had been filled by the time he had left Oxford University. After a brief period at the ''Manchester Evening News'', he joined ''The Observer'' in 1950 as religious correspondent.
