Dave Longstreth
David Longstreth (born December 17, 1981) is an American singer and songwriter. He is the lead singer and guitarist for the band Dirty Projectors. Biography Longstreth was born in Southbury, Connecticut. Longstreth attended Yale University and majored in music shortly before dropping out halfway through his second year. He stated that "he rarely ventured out of his dorm room. He found himself completely absorbed in making his own music, though there wasn’t really anyone to play it for." After dropping out, he moved in with his brother in Portland, Oregon and worked on his first album ''The Graceful Fallen Mango'', which he released in 2002. Shortly after completing the album, Longstreth returned to Yale to finish his degree and began making music under the ''Dirty Projectors'' title. Southbury is a town in western New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. Southbury is north of Oxford and Newtown, and east of Brookfield. Its population was 19,879 at the 2020 census. Southbury comprises sprawling rural country areas, suburban neighborhoods, and historic districts. Joanna Newsom (born January 18, 1982) is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Born and raised in Northern California, Newsom was classically trained on the harp in her youth and began her musical career as a keyboardist in the San Francisco-based indie band the Pleased. After recording and self-releasing two EPs in 2002, Newsom was signed to the independent label Drag City. Her debut album, '' The Milk-Eyed Mender'', was released in 2004 to critical acclaim and garnered Newsom an underground following. John Pullman "Jake" Longstreth, Jr. (born February 3, 1977), is an American painter, musician, and internet radio personality. He is currently the co-host of the Apple Music 1 show, ''Time Crisis with Ezra Koenig'' and member of a Grateful Dead cover band, Richard Pictures, as well as his own musical outfit, Mountain Brews. Education Longstreth received his Bachelor of Arts in 1999 from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and his Master of Fine Arts in 2005 from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, California.
