Darq E Freaker
Darq E Freaker (born Jeremiah Valentino Ntéh, 14 February 1988) is an English electronic music record producer and DJ from Peckham, London, England. He is best known for his work with and as a member of grime collective Nu Brand Flexxx. Freaker has released multiple EPs, most notably "Cherryade" on Oil Gang and "Blueberry" which featured Danny Brown. Freaker released 'Minger" on UK record label Numbers in June 2014. Biography Infusing UK Grime and Hip-Hop with Capcom-esque electronica, Freaker's unique style of grime caught the attention of English grime MC Tempa T in 2012. Rising from local notoriety after the release of Tempa T's "Next Hype", Freaker went on to collaborate with then freshman Detroit rapper Danny Brown, on the critically acclaimed "Blueberry (Cocaine & Pills) EP". Grime (music)
Grime is a genre of electronic music that emerged in London in the early 2000s. It developed out of the earlier UK dance style UK garage, and draws influences from jungle, dancehall, and hip hop. The style is typified by rapid, syncopated breakbeats, generally around 140 beats per minute, and often features an aggressive or jagged electronic sound. Emceeing is a significant element of the style, and lyrics often revolve around gritty depictions of urban life. The style initially spread among pirate radio stations and underground scenes before achieving some mainstream recognition in the UK during the mid-2000s through artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Lethal Bizzle, and Wiley. Richard Kylea Cowie Jr. MBE (born 19 January 1979), better known by his stage name Wiley (formerly Wiley Kat), is a British grime MC, rapper, songwriter, DJ and record producer from Bow, London. Wiley is considered a key figure in the creation of grime music and often labelled the "Godfather of Grime". In the early 2000s, he independently released a series of highly influential eskibeat instrumentals on white label vinyl, such as the first in the series "Eskimo" and is known as a grime MC both for his solo work and for material released with his crew Roll Deep. Wiley first tasted success as a member of UK garage crew Pay As U Go, with whom he had a top 40 hit, " Champagne Dance" in 2001. Olushola Ajose, better known by his stage name Afrikan Boy (born 28 March 1989) is a Nigerian-born grime artist from the Woolwich district of London. He went viral with a track entitled "One day I went to Lidl" recorded at That SP Studios. He made a guest appearance on the track "Hussel" from the M.I.A. album ''Kala'', and is one of the initial artists M.I.A. wanted signed to her label N.E.E.T. Recordings (then called Zig-Zag) in 2007. A remix of M.I.A.'s " Paper Planes" was uploaded onto her MySpace featuring Afrikan Boy and tourmate Rye Rye. Afrikan Boy has never appeared on pirate radio, a performance opportunity common in the grime genre. He studied for a Psychology degree at Brunel University.
