Damon Records
Damon Records was a United States record label. Original Damon was headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. Damon used musicians and singers who were not members of the American Federation of Musicians labor union to make recordings during the ban on Union recordings ordered by James Petrillo. In May 1948, the singing duo of Jon and Sondra Steele released "My Happiness" on Damon Records, a fact that was acknowledged on sheet music promoting the song. One of the better known artists with Damon was big band bandleader Al Trace. The Al Trace Orchestra recorded for major labels in the 1940s in addition to Damon. Trace was a writer on several popular songs, including "If I'd Known You Were Coming I'd Have Baked a Cake." The label was still in existence up to at least 1960, when a rock 'n' roll group from Pittsburg, Kan., Conny and the Bellhops, had a regional hit with a 45 titled "Shot Rod," an instrumental on the Damon label. Juno Awards Of 1978
The Juno Awards of 1978, representing Canadian music industry achievements of the previous year, were awarded on 29 March 1978 in Toronto at a ceremony hosted for a second consecutive year by David Steinberg at the Harbour Castle Hilton Convention Centre. A 2-hour broadcast of the ceremonies was available nationally on CBC Television. 1500 people were present at the ceremonies. At a news conference following the awards, on 31 March 1978, Stompin' Tom Connors announced he would return his Juno trophies to awards organiser CARAS as a protest against rewarding "Juno jumpers" or artists who do not maintain a residence or presence in Canada. Connors earlier withdrew his nomination as Country Male Vocalist of the Year. Bob Kames
Bob Kames (April 21, 1925 – April 9, 2008) was an American musician who specialized in genres such as polka. Kames is credited with developing and popularizing the modern-day version of the song " Dance Little Bird," which is much better known by its more common name, The Chicken Dance. Kames is a member of the Wisconsin Area Music Industry's Hall of Fame. Kames recorded over seventy albums throughout his career. He owned and operated a chain of music stores called Bob Kames Wonderful World of Music, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. ''The Great White North'' is a Canadian comedy album by the fictional television characters Bob and Doug McKenzie (portrayed by actors Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas), released in 1981 by Anthem Records (ANR-1-1036) and distributed in the United States by Mercury Records (SRM-1-4034). The title is a popular nickname for Canada; the nickname was used for the title of a '' Second City Television'' (a.k.a. SCTV) sketch featuring the Bob and Doug characters. This album was released as a tie-in with ''SCTV'' at the height of the popularity of Bob and Doug, and a still from the show was used on the album cover. Bob and Doug McKenzie are a pair of fictional Canadian brothers who hosted "Great White North", a sketch which was introduced on '' SCTV'' for the show's third season when it moved to CBC Television in 1980. Jack Hennig (born August 26, 1946, in Edmonton, Alberta) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Jimmy Arthur Ordge
James Arthur Ordge (1935 – July 1, 2016) was a Canadian country music recording artist. Ordge scored two Canadian Number-One country singles with his 1967 release “Irena Cheyenne” and his 1970 release “The Ballad of Muk Tuk Annie”. He was a Country Male Vocalist of the Year nominee for the Juno Awards of 1978. His 1981 Doré Records single release, “Stay Away From Jim”, made the US Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, peaking at number 89 on July 24, 1981. Ordge died of cancer on July 1, 2016, at age 80.
