Děčín Zoo
Děčín Zoo, is a Czech zoo, located in Děčín in Czech Republic. Děčín Zoo was founded in 1948, when only four zoological parks existed in Czechoslovakia. The zoo in opened its gates in 1949, through Ludvík Grác, a local Podmokly businessperson and zoological specialist and a group of animal enthusiasts. Ludvík Grác became the first director, a title he kept until 1966. The present director is Kateřina Majerová. In 2014 the zoo kept some 400 animals of over 150 species, among them rare species not encountered elsewhere in Czech Republic. Děčín (; ) is a city in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 46,000 inhabitants. It is the seventth largest municipality in the country by area. European Endangered Species Programme
The EAZA Ex-situ Programme (EEP) is a population management and Ex situ conservation, conservation programme by European Association of Zoos and Aquaria, European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) for wild animals living in European zoos. The programme was formerly known as the European Endangered Species Programme. Each EEP has a coordinator who is assisted by a species committee. The coordinator collects information on the status of all the animals kept in EAZA zoos and aquariums of the species for which he or she is responsible, produces a Breed registry, studbook, carries out demographic and genetic analyses, produces a plan for the future management of the species and provides recommendations to participating institutions. International Zoo Educators Association
The International Zoo Educators Association (IZE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the education programmes in zoos and aquariums. Founded in 1972 by a group of European zoo educators, IZE's aim was to create a forum where zoo educators could meet every two years to discuss and share ideas and common interests. The founding members included those from Frankfurt Zoo, Amsterdam Zoo, Paignton Zoo and Copenhagen Zoo. The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is the "umbrella" organization for the world zoo and aquarium community. The European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) is an organisation for the European zoo and aquarium community that links over 340 member organisations in 41 countries. EAZA membership is open to all zoos and aquaria across Europe that comply with EAZA's standards. ISIS
Isis was a major goddess in ancient Egyptian religion whose worship spread throughout the Greco-Roman world. Isis was first mentioned in the Old Kingdom () as one of the main characters of the Osiris myth, in which she resurrects her slain brother and husband, the divine king Osiris, and produces and protects his heir, Horus. She was believed to help the dead enter the afterlife as she had helped Osiris, and she was considered the divine mother of the pharaoh, who was likened to Horus.
