Düwag GT8S
Düwag or Duewag (stylised in all caps), formerly Waggonfabrik Uerdingen, was a German manufacturer of rail vehicles. It was sold in 1999 to Siemens with the brand later retired. History Duewag was founded in March 1898 as Waggonfabrik Uerdingen in Uerdingen and produced rail vehicles under the Düwag brand. After merging with Düsseldorfer Waggonfabrik in 1935, railway vehicles were built in Uerdingen, while the Düsseldorf plant produced mainly local traffic vehicles, namely tramway and light rail vehicles. In 1981, the company changed its name from Waggonfabrik Uerdingen to Duewag. Siemens acquired a 60% shareholding in 1989 before taking full ownership in April 1999. In 2001, the Düsseldorf plant was closed with production transferred to Uerdingen. Duewag vehicles were close to a monopoly market in West Germany, as nearly every tram and light rail vehicle purchased from the 1960s onward was built by Duewag. TW 6000
The TW 6000 is a type of articulated light rail vehicle used on the Hanover Stadtbahn system, manufactured by Duewag, Linke-Hofmann-Busch, AEG, Kiepe and Siemens. The vehicle can serve both high platforms and street-level stops; it has cabs at both ends, thus eliminating the need for turning loops. It was unique in Germany at the time for featuring thyristor chopper control and a contemporary design by Herbert Lindinger. A total of 260 were built between 1974 and 1993, of which the first series of 100 was built by Duewag in Düsseldorf from 1974 to 1978, whilst the second to eighth series (160) were built by LHB in Salzgitter from 1979 to 1993. From 2002 on, 82 units were sold to Budapest, Hungary and The Hague, The Netherlands. TW 400
The TW 400 is a type of tram vehicle formerly used on the tramways of Hanover, Germany, built from 1956 to 1958 by Duewag. Some units underwent remodeling to prepare them for being used on the Hanover Stadtbahn network but they were never used for this purpose. During the construction of the A tunnel of the Hanover Stadtbahn it was not foreseeable whether the new TW 6000 cars would be available in sufficient numbers. Therefore, a number of TW 400 cars (called because of their body width of ), was brought up to tunnel standards from 1969 onwards. SL79 is a class of 40 articulated tram, articulated trams operated by the Oslo Tramway of Norway. The trams were a variation of the Duewag trams that had been developed by the German manufacturer since the 1950s. The six-axle vehicles are unidirectional with four doors on the right side. The trams can seat 77 passengers three and four abreast, with an additional 91 people able to stand. Power output is , provided by two motors on the two end bogies, that supplement a central unpowered Jacobs bogie located under the articulation. The trams are long and wide. They are capable of and have standard gauge. They were built in two series, the first of 25 units delivered in 1982–84, and the second of 15 units delivered in 1989–90. The Duewag GT8 Typ Freiburg is a three-part eight-axle Types of Trams#Articulated, articulated tram used on Trams in Freiburg im Breisgau, Freiburg im Breisgau's tram network. From 1971 to 1991, these trams were exclusively produced for the Freiburger Verkehrs AG, VAG Freiburg by Düsseldorfer Waggonfabrik, Duewag in three series, which defined them as the Freiburg type, ''Typ Freiburg''. They are designed to be used Uni-directional vehicle, uni-directionally. Construction Trams with Jacobs bogies were not suitable for the partially narrow, curved radii in Freiburg, so a new type of tram was created. The RegioSprinter is a German diesel railcar built by Siemens-Duewag for rapid regional railway services. Originally the RegioSprinter was designated as a Regional Combustion-engined Railbus (''Regional-Verbrennungstriebwagen'' or ''RVT'') by Duewag. Developed as prototypes for fast regional railway services on the plains, the RegioSprinter still has the fastest acceleration of any multiple unit or railbus in Germany. Due to several technical and conceptual defects, however, only very few were built. Based on their experience with the Regiosprinter Siemens developed its successor, the Desiro, which was initially marketed as the ''Regiosprinter 2''. The Duewag Y is a series of Diesel multiple unit, diesel multiple units (DMUs) manufactured between 1965 and 1988 for Danish rail operators by the West Germany, West German company Düwag, Waggonfabrik Uerdingen. A total of 160 cars were built: 76 Motor coach (rail), motor cars, 23 trailer cars, and 61 Control car, control cars. Introduced in 1965 by Danish private operators and later in 1984 by DSB (railway company), DSB, the Y-type units began being phased out in the 1990s. DSB ceased operations in 2010, and the last run on Danish rails, by a private operator, occurred in 2012. All units were scrapped except one preserved for museum purposes and another exported to Poland in 2008. NS DM 90
The NS Class 3400, referred to as DM'90, was a series of diesel multiple unit which were in service in the Netherlands between 1996 and 2017 and were built by Duewag, Talbot and SIG between 1996 and 1998. They were operated by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen and between 1999 until 2014 under lease by Syntus. DM'90, their classification, means diesel rolling stock (Diesel Materieel in Dutch) of the 1990s or Buffel, which means Buffalo. The DM'90 series was developed alongside the short lived electric counter part, the SM'90 ("stopping-train" or commuter rolling stock of the 1990s) series with which it shares the unusual body cross section. Düwag Wadloper is a family of diesel railcars (type ''DH1'', Polish ''SN82'' series) and diesel multiple units (type ''DH2'', Polish ''SN83'' series) produced by the West Germany, German Duewag, ''Düwag'' plant in Düsseldorf. Between 1981 and 1983, a total of 50 vehicles of this kind were built specifically for the Netherlands, Dutch ''Nederlandse Spoorwegen'' railroad. At the beginning of the 21st century, they were mainly operated by private carriers; in 2006 they began to be phased out, and in 2008 they were sold to other countries. The trains went to carriers from Poland, Argentina and Romania.
