Dónal O'Connor
Dónal O'Connor is an Irish multi-instrumentalist, producer and television presenter, producer & director from Ravensdale, County Louth, Ireland. He was a member of Belfast-based Irish traditional groups Ulaid & At First Light and his parents group Lá Lugh. Early life O'Connor was born into an Irish-speaking household. His father is fiddler Gerry O'Connor and his mother was singer and flute player Eithne Ní Uallacháin (died 1999). His maternal grandparents were Pádraig Ó hUallacháin, a teacher, writer and song collector, and Eithne bean Uí Uallacháin. His paternal grandmother was fiddler and fiddle teacher Rose O'Connor. O'Connor is also the nephew of singers Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin and Len Graham. Ravensdale, County Louth
Ravensdale () is a village, townland and electoral division located at the foothills of the Cooley Mountains on the Cooley Peninsula in the north of County Louth in Ireland. Bordering with the townland of Doolargy (), Ravensdale is approximately 8 km to the north of Dundalk. The dual carriageway between Dublin and Belfast runs nearby, and the R174 connects it with Jenkinstown. Joanne Hogg is a Northern Irish musician, best known for her work as the lead singer and songwriter with the Celtic Christian progressive rock band Iona. Early life and education Hogg was born in Ballymena to a family of medical missionaries. Helsinki Folk Festival
The Helsinki Folk Festival was a festival arranged during the Pentecost of 1966 (29–30 May) in Sandvik, Espoo, Finland. It was the first-ever festival of popular music in Finland, and apparently a one-off event. The first Pori Jazz festival was arranged in the same year, but only in the summer. The first Ruisrock was arranged only four years later. One of the organizers of the festival was Juhani “Jussi” Joutsenniemi, who together with his band the Hootenanny Trio, the Guldgurkorna, Anki Lindqvist bands had been touring the folk festivals in England. He thought that something similar should be arranged in Finland, too. Joutsenniemi had, for some time, already been arranging folk music club events in e.g. Munkkiniemi.
