Dénes Birkás
Dénes Birkás, also known as ''Deján Bikár'' (13 March 1907 – 10 July 1996), was a Hungarian field hockey and ice hockey player who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics. He was born in Budapest. He played at the 1930 and 1931 ice hockey World Championships The 1931 Ice Hockey World Championships was the fifth World Championship, an annual international ice hockey tournament. It took place between 1 and 8 February 1931 in Krynica, Poland. The tournament was won by Canada who were represented by the .... He would later coach the Hungarian national ice hockey team in 1959–1960. In 1936 he was a member of the Hungarian team which was eliminated in the group stage of the Olympic tournament. Field Hockey
Field hockey (or simply referred to as hockey in some countries where ice hockey is not popular) is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with 11 players in total, made up of 10 field players and a goalkeeper. 1930 World Ice Hockey Championships
The 1930 Ice Hockey World Championships were held between January 30 and February 10, 1930, in Chamonix, France, Vienna, Austria, and Berlin, Germany. This event was the first world championships independent of hockey at the Olympics. Canada, represented by the Toronto CCMs, beat the German team in the gold medal match by a score of 6 to 1 to win the title. The 1931 Ice Hockey World Championships was the fifth World Championship, an annual international ice hockey tournament. It took place between 1 and 8 February 1931 in Krynica, Poland. The tournament was won by Canada who were represented by the University of Manitoba Grads team, claiming their fifth world championship title by finishing on top of the group in the final round with a total of nine points. The United States finished second to win the silver medal, losing only one game to Canada and Austria finished third for the bronze medal. The Hungarian men's national ice hockey team is the national ice hockey team of Hungary. They have participated in the IIHF European Championships, the IIHF World Hockey Championships and the Olympic Games since 1928. A consistent participant of the annual World Championship, Hungary has played at the Olympics three times, most recently in 1964. They are currently ranked 19th in the world by the IIHF. The field hockey tournament at the 1936 Summer Olympics was the fifth edition of the field hockey event at the Summer Olympics. All games took place either in the Hockey Stadion or on the Hockey Stadion Field No.2. Both of the field hockey grounds were near the Olympic Stadium located on the Reichssportfeld. The competition was held from 4 August 1936 to 15 August 1936. The field hockey matches saw a total attendance of 184,103 and 157,531 tickets were sold.
