The Conservatives (; ; ) are a Luxembourgish political party that was founded on 21 March 2017 in the municipality of Pétange. According to the founding statute of The Conservatives, they understand themselves as a party on a conservative and patriotic basis. According to the basic program, the party sees itself connected with the political philosophy of the state philosopher and politician Edmund Burke. The party president is the former Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR) politician Joe Thein, who after being expelled from the ADR, started his own party. At the extraordinary national congress of 10 April 2017, the party statutes and basic program were adopted, as well as the party committee was elected. Joe Thein was elected as national president. Joe Thein
Joe Thein (born 17 July 1991 in Esch-sur-Alzette) is a Luxembourgian people, Luxembourgish politician and former councillor. He is living in Lamadelaine in the Communes of Luxembourg, commune of Pétange. He supports the philosophy of conservatism by Edmund Burke. After obtaining his commercial diploma at the Lycée Technique Mathias Adam, he worked as a flight attendant at the Luxembourgish airline Luxair. Subsequently, he began studies in history at the University of Luxembourg. He is currently working as secretary of management. 2017 Luxembourg Communal Elections
The 2017 Luxembourg communal elections were held on 8 October to elect the communal councils of the 102 municipalities of Luxembourg. Electoral system Luxembourg citizens aged over 18 and living in the country were able to vote. Citizens from any EU country could vote if they were registered on the electoral list, the requirements for which were to have lived in Luxembourg for at least 5 years and to be living in Luxembourg during the election. Citizens from any other country could vote subject to the same requirements as for EU citizens, plus the requirement of holding valid visa or residence permit.
