Dzintars Sproģis
Dzintars Sproģis (born 13 May 1971) is a former Latvian football defender. Sproģis was recognized as the best defender in the first season of Virslīga. Playing biography Dzintars Sproģis came from a sporting family - his father Aivars played for Darba reserves and Dzintars' older brother Haralds Sproģis was also a footballer with whom Dzintars played together in several clubs. The first club that Dzintars played with was Zvejnieks Liepāja in 1988 (at the age of just 17) from which he moved to RAF Jelgava in 1989. In 1989, he also made a debut with Daugava Rīga. With RAF he played in lower Soviet leagues. In the first Virslīga season Dzintars joined former Daugava head coach Jānis Skredelis with Kompar-Daugava but in 1993 he went to play abroad - with KTH Diest in Belgium. Baltika Brewery () is the second largest brewing company in Europe, and the leader of the Russian beer market with over 38% market share. It is headquartered in St. Petersburg. The Latvian Football Cup () is the main knockout cup competition in Latvian football. Since 2021, its full name is Responsible Gaming Latvian Football Cup (''Atbildīgas spēles Latvijas kauss'') due to the sponsorship by sports betting company William Hill. The tournament was launched in 1937, replacing the previous knockout tournament – the Riga Football Cup. The competition is a knockout (single elimination) tournament. From 1937 to 2008 and again since 2017, all of the games of the tournament are played within the calendar year. FK Jelgava is a Latvian football club that is based in Jelgava. The club plays its home-matches at the Zemgales Olimpiskais Sporta Centrs stadium with capacity of 1,560 people. In 2021, the club dissolved its professional team, which was absorbed by its phoenix club FS Jelgava. Early years Until 2004 two Jelgava football clubs FK Viola and RAF Jelgava played in 1. līga. Koninklijke Football Club Diest is a former Belgian association football club from the town of Diest, Flemish Brabant. It played two spells in the first division: from 1961–62 to 1964–65 and from 1970–71 to 1974–75, finishing 7th in 1964.
