The Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Tipperary GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Tipperary and the Tipperary county teams. Thurles (; ''Durlas Éile'') is a town in County Tipperary, Ireland. It is located in the civil parish of the same name in the barony of Eliogarty and in the ecclesiastical parish of Thurles. The cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly is located in the town. The birthplace of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Thurles is the third largest town in the county, with a population of 8,185 at the 2022 census. Thurles Sarsfields GAA
Thurles Sarsfields is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred in the town of Thurles at Semple Stadium. The club was founded in 1881 and is the most honoured club in the county, with 36 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship titles. Thurles Sarsfields are affiliated with the town's juvenile club Dúrlas Óg. History On 19 October 2009, Sarsfields captured their 30th Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, defeating neighbours Drom ’n Inch at Semple Stadium by 0-14 to 0-5. They went on to play Newtownshandrum in the Munster hurling championship quarter-final on 1 November 2009, losing by 1-15 to 0-19 points. Féile Na NGael
Féile na nGael (; Irish for "Festival of the Gaels") is an annual tournament comprising the sports of hurling, camogie and handball organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. Its stated aim is to bond communities, forge friendships, provide educational opportunities and unearth new leaders. The competition hosts approximately 25,000 boys and girls each year with all 32 of Ireland's Gaelic games counties represented along with teams from London, Lancashire, Warwickshire, New York, Australasia and county Europe. Féile na nGael states that its primary objective is to facilitate and enable personal, social and cultural development amongst young people with emphasis on cultural and community activities, leadership and training through sport.
