Durham FM
Durham FM was an Independent Local Radio station based in Durham, County Durham, England. History From its launch in 2005, Durham FM was owned and operated by TLRC. In December 2008, Durham FM submitted an application to Ofcom to co-locate with sister station, Sun FM in Sunderland. Following a consultation, the majority of responses were against the idea. In July 2009, Ofcom give permission to rename Durham FM to Alpha Durham, and sister station Minster Northallerton to Alpha Northallerton. All programmes on would be shared, except for a local breakfast show and four-hour show on Saturday and Sunday, each produced and broadcast locally. Previously, TLRC asked for Ofcom approval to move Durham FM further north to Sunderland to share facilities with Sun FM, but a decision was delayed by the regulator. The Local Radio Company
The Local Radio Company was a British media company, based in Redruth, Cornwall, that owned eleven Independent Local Radio stations in the UK. After takeover talks with UTV Media, UKRD Group and Hallwood Financial, UKRD acquired the majority share of the company in June 2009. History TLRC was formed in 1996 as a joint venture between its majority shareholder Radio Investments Limited and GWR Group plc, with founding Chief Executive Chris Carnegy also holding a small stake. It was designed as a specialist operator of small stations and its initial portfolio consisted of stations transferred from the founders: Spire FM, Gold Radio, KCBC and Boss 603 Cheltenham from RIL, and Isle of Wight Radio from GWR. Independent Local Radio is the collective name given to commercial radio stations in the United Kingdom. Durham ( , locally ) is a cathedral city and civil parish in the county of County Durham, Durham, England. The UKRD Group Ltd was a British media company that owned 15 commercial radio stations in the United Kingdom. The name originates from UK Radio Developments. Since its acquisition in March 2019, it has been run as a subsidiary of Bauer Radio. Minster Northallerton
Minster Northallerton was an Independent Local Radio station based in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, England. History Prior to launch, Minster Northallerton was originally known as BTN FM, after the principal towns of the area - Bedale, Thirsk and Northallerton. The Local Radio Company were awarded the franchise in November 2005 by OFCOM and the station launched on 11 June 2007. The station was later given permission by OFCOM to move into the same building as Alpha Radio in Darlington which is outside of Minster Northallerton's broadcast area and to share some programmes with Alpha Radio.
